What would the Fourth of July be without red, white, and blue wedding inspiration – but this one has a French country twist! What’s not to love – they make some of the best cheese and wine (two of my favorite things), they’re always so fashionable, and since they’re never one to turn down a good revolutions, they even helped us win our independence. I thought elegant campagne style would add a fun spin to a patriotic favorite. The traditional palette is given a chic update with vibrant poppy red, crisp white, and, of course, French blue! The color palette is elegant, understated, and at once cheerful, perfect for a midsummer wedding.
A brilliant summer garden in full bloom is the ideal location for a sophisticated Fourth of July ceremony, with stunning red florals for the bride and bridal party, and brightly colored cocktails to follow. A vine-hung arbor or shady veranda will set the scene for an al fresco reception, with filmy white draperies and glittering crystal chandeliers overhead. Delicate country flowers all in shades of white will project the perfect image of a French garden – cluster sweet peas, ranunculus, garden roses, and tulips in low glass globes and white bud vases to create a blooming runner down the center of long gathering tables. For dessert, serve French almond cake layered with fresh whipped cream and jewel colored berries – in red, white, and blue, of course. Best of all, I can always whip this back out when Bastille Day rolls around in a couple of weeks!
