I think it’s time I finally introduced the lady behind Hey Wedding Lady! Writing a wedding blog seemed like the natural culmination of all of the things I love to do – writing, graphic and event design, photography, and, well, weddings! Although my mother loves to remind me that the twelve-year old Ariana thought that being a wedding planner sounded ‘fun’, it was never my goal to end up here (although, I have to say, I’m so glad that I did). I got my degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing at Emerson College, traveled through most of Europe living out of a backpack, and moved back to Santa Cruz, California, to see what I was going to make of myself. I ended up falling into event planning completely by chance and have spent the past seven years full-time in the wedding community. In the past several years, I made the segue from planning to marketing for special event companies, as well as dreaming up new content for Hey Wedding Lady. When I’m not putting together posts and inspiration boards, I love action movies, going on adventures, and spending quality time with my amazing boyfriend, family, and friends. Ok, and cat. I’m still firmly rooted in the Central Coast and can think of no place more lovely than Point Lobos. In those few, precious moments of spare time, I still love to read – some of my favorites are Peter Beagle, Neil Gaiman, Salman Rushdie, and, of course, Sarah Addison Allen. I recently picked up sketching, which has been a wonderful way to unwind as well as plan out styled shoots!
About the Blog
Let’s get the biggest question out of the way first – where did the name come from? ‘Hey Wedding Lady’ originated seven years ago when I started working as a Wedding Coordinator – it seemed like a normal thing to have shouted at me when guests or family members couldn’t remember my name but knew, instinctively, that I was in charge and probably had a safety pin somewhere on me. The nickname stuck, and seemed like the perfect fit for a cheeky, modern wedding blog focusing on event design and wedding styling. Since I started blogging in 2013, I’ve worked to hone and refine not only my writing voice, but the direction and style of this blog to fit that vision! I strive to feature unique and personal weddings that choose to hew close to the heart rather than to the latest trends, as well as gorgeous and innovative style and inspiration!
