Ashanti and Vergus were inspired by their love of rustic style and their home’s farmhouse decor to create a signature style for their wedding day, but the couple themselves look glam enough to land a magazine cover! They worked closely with Tampa area wedding planners Royal Events & Services to bring that blend of rustic and glam to life in the most gorgeous wedding day at The Junior League Sorosis Building of Lakeland! Chelsea Renay Photography made sure that every moment from their wedding day looked ready for Vogue!
Modern Farmhouse Decor Meets Glam Wedding Style
These two might go down in Hey Wedding Lady history as the most stylish bride and groom! Ashanti found her dream fit and flare lace wedding dress at Bearer of the Bling Bridal, which perfectly combined her love of rustic style and effortless glam. Vergus took his groom’s attire to the next level with styling help from J. Alexander for Royal Events & Services – his navy blue and black suit alone would have looked GQ worthy, but the addition of studded dress loafers and a sparkling bow tie made sure he brought the glam to his look as well!
Put these gents on the cover of GQ!
Ashanti made sure her bridesmaids glittered in silver sequin dresses! They looked every inch as glam as the couple, while Royal Events & Services added rustic flair to the bridal party with statement bouquets of eucalyptus, King protea, roses, anemone, and thistle. The soft white flowers and silvery green perfectly matched their signature color, while adding a hint of ‘something blue’!
Modern elements, like the geometric wood ceremony backdrop and lettered acrylic signage, added the perfect touch of farmhouse style to their decor.
Ashanti walked down the aisle on her father’s arm, with a special charm on her bouquet in memory of her son. The sweet addition made sure he was included in their wedding day, and allowed two of the most special men to walk her down the aisle.
Vintage keys on a rustic door served as a farmhouse chic seating chart and doubled as favors! Guests also partook in an interactive photo booth during the reception.
Farmhouse decor met glam sparkle for the wedding reception, with crisp white flowers, glass candleholders, and touches of gold and greenery. Silver sequins draped the Sweetheart Table, and their gorgeous ceremony backdrop made a reappearance at the reception to add the perfect modern touch!
J Russell Cakes created this beautiful gold and blue modern art inspired wedding cake, with fresh flowers to tie in the rustic charm of their style! They also created a groom’s cake that looked like a fish as a surprise for Vergus!
From Ashanti and Vergus –
How He Proposed –
V. Mock is a true fisherman. He loves fishing. It’s his peaceful, tranquil place. He introduced this to me at the beginning of our relationship. I started enjoying it too. Of course, somehow this becomes part of my engagement story. One night, he took me fishing. Well, I thought we were going fishing. It was the perfect evening. He packed a picnic basket with dinner and wine. Beautiful weather and beautiful skies. I was looking up at the stars and not paying attention at all, he got on one knee behind me. He asked and of course, I said yes.
On Their Style and Attire –
I’m a lover of all things rustic. My home even has the farmhouse vibe. Of course, I used this as inspiration to my décor and color palette. I wanted a clean airy look. Selecting the Junior Sororis as our venue brought the entire look together. My wedding planning and floral design team took my vision and truly made it a reality. They recommended the specific floral choices to execute this look and I was so pleased with the outcome. We definitely splurged a bit on our wardrobe and probably the flowers. Both were worth every penny!!!
On Their Favorite Part of the Wedding Day –
My favorite part of the day was the first look of the décor. Seeing my vision come to life. Taking a moment to let it sink it. All the hard months of planning and preparing for this one moment. Also, seeing my family and friends enjoy the moment with us, was also priceless. Lastly, seeing the expression on my husband’s face, when I walked down the aisle, definitely was a moment for life!
Advice from the Bride –
Definitely get a wedding planner. Without Royal Events and Services, I would not have known what to do. I kept to my vision and budget because of them.

This is beautiful. Did the bride mention where her hair accessory is from?
She didn’t, but she runs Royal Events & Services and would know more!
Lovely wedding. Love the groomsmen’s shoes 🙂
