Rainy Day Wedding Shoot in an English Garden

Utter romance is in store with today’s rainy day wedding shoot from Kristin La Voie in a summer garden! The rain was a complete surprise to this talented team and their real couple, but it couldn’t ruin the moment. A garden in full bloom, a palette of antique gold with blush and rose pink, and a vintage lace wedding dress combine in the dreamiest way possible!

Rain on your wedding day doesn’t have anything to do with irony – most cultures actually consider it a blessing! In this case, the gray skies and misty garden created an enchanted setting for this already romantic shoot. The real couple taking their turn in front of the camera braved the damp weather for some of the dreamiest portraits I’ve ever seen! The formal gardens at Cantigny Park in Illinois provided a lush green backdrop complete with blooming summer flowers. Abundant rose gardens inspired the shoot’s palette of blush and pink, while the historic surroundings were apparent in the use of antique gold and vintage lace accents.

A Sweetheart Table set in front of riotously blooming roses in deep pink set the scene, with elegant white linens and a table topper of vintage lace. Floral patterned china and an antique gold candelabra complemented the heirloom styling of the bride and groom’s table, while lush summer flowers and a hand lettered menu with delicate watercolors added sweet modern details. A towering cake of blush fondant with a layer of metallic gold foil created a showstopping moment amongst the sweetness of the gardens.

For the bride, a dreamy off the shoulder Cettina wedding dress and a loose half-updo captured the effortless romance of the gardens. The lace bodice and sweeping chiffon skirt were the epitome of elegance against the formal expanse of rose gardens and lily ponds. The groom’s charcoal suit and plaid tie were nearly soaked from raindrops by the time the shoot ended, but their portraits captured the thrill of a fairy tale kiss in the rain!
