I could not be more smitten with this couple’s modern glam take on classic engagement photos! Matt proposed on a casual night at home, over a pizza, so he and bride-to-be Nicole wanted to celebrate with something more formal. Cathy Durig captured both the fun and the romance of their portrait session in the relaxed setting of Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego!
This detail obsessed lady loved the way Nicole and Matt dressed up their engagement session, with every detail in chic black and white. To set the laid back but formal feeling of their photos, Nicole chose a flowing black maxi dress with long sleeves and a plunging neckline. Hyde Edwards Salon and Spa created a stunning braided updo that showed off her champagne statement statement earrings and smokey rose gold makeup. Matt echoed his fiancée’s effortless style with a slim fit black suit over a crisp white shirt.
They celebrated their engagement on the sun-drenched grounds of the Rancho Bernardo Inn, a luxury resort that exemplifies the relaxed chic Southern California style. The dusty green of olive trees and spearing Mediterranean cypress trees added a hint of organic greens to the couple’s dramatic black and white palette. San Diego Floral Design created a gorgeously textural bouquet of ranunculus with black and white striped ribbon wrapped around the stems to add contrast to the all-white flowers.
To toast to their engagement, the couple popped a bottle of champagne on one of the resort’s inviting terraces. Flutes tied with their signature black and white striped ribbon were accented by rock candy stirrers for a fun and modern touch. The black cherry candy added to their chic color scheme and gave their sparkling wine a sweet kick!
