I couldn’t let St. Paddy’s day go by without sharing some Irish wedding ideas! There’s plenty of green, to be sure, but not a shamrock or leprechaun in sight. The Hey Wedding Family has lots of ties to Ireland, and I’m always struck by the hospitality and unbelievable beauty of the country when I’ve been lucky enough to visit. I wanted to capture that enchanting and welcoming atmosphere in today’s board!
To capture a quintessentially Irish country wedding, I found a gorgeous stone cathedral that captured both the old world charm and inherent faith of the country. An aisle lined with draped garlands in the signature color of emerald green leads to a gorgeous Continental altar with no adornment needed. The ancient stone of the cathedral’s columns captures the rich history of Ireland, while lush and flowing arrangements of rich green echoes the wild beauty of the countryside.
Natural textural elements in the gown and table linens bring in that elegant country style. Simple but elegant details play into the theme, with taper candles in vintage holders, and blown glass bud vases holding single stems of local blooms. Accent details in chased gold hint at the regal history and rich natural resources of the island – a reliquary inspired box to hold the rings, and a gold-rimmed goblet of whiskey to toast the marriage.
