It warms my heart to see more and more states draft legislature to legalize same sex marriage – Hawaii has officially joined the equality party and I really look forward to seeing who’s next! I thought it was time to revisit a a design concept I put together for an elegant, rustic same sex wedding for Napa Valley Linens. I’ve been asked about doing inspiration boards for gay marriage before, but the truth is, the term is a misnomer. We’re just talking about marriage – two loving adults who have chosen to make a commitment to each other – so I need more details to be able to create a design. We started with the idea of a neutral but rich palette, perfect for a wine country wedding. Hints of sapphire blue add some deep focus colors, and fresh greenery takes the place of traditional florals while echoing the location.
The neutral palette is fabulously picked up from these selections from Napa Valley Linens. They will be one of the sponsors of 2014’s groundbreaking Gay Vanity Fair, one of the nation’s first ever same sex wedding fairs, hosted by Sullivan and Botello!
