I have the perfect end to another week – inspiration for a Mediterranean wedding! This may have something to do with my craving for a vacation somewhere warm, but when inspiration strikes, what are you gonna do? I started with a palette based on the crystalline waters around the Greek Isles.
Olive accents – like the overflowing arrangement by Cloth of Gold and a delicate wreath – are the perfect addition to infuse any event with a little Mediterranean charm. The sun-shot romance of California wine country is an excellent double for couples who can’t travel all the way to Europe for their wedding. The rolling hills and rows of vines capture most people’s idea of Greece and Italy, but unexpected locations like the old wine cellar at Sand Rock Farm offer the same appeal in Central California.
The regal addition of antique bronze calls back to the ancient civilizations of the Greeks and Romans, especially when coupled with the textures of rough stone and raw marble. Organic details – raw-edged ribbon, wild florals, an unfinished hem – cap off a design concept that’s elegant and romantic but still a little wild.
