Sometimes I get requests that are incredibly close to my heart – like Carnivale in Venice. I became infatuated with Venice since I was about 6 years old and heard Vivaldi’s Ring of Mystery for the first time. I did my high school graduation project on Renaissance Venice, had a travel article published about the city, and have been three times. Which makes it really hard to come up with the perfect Inspiration Board because I have such a clear image in my head and then I have to hunt down the perfect pictures.
To me that came together as regal, luxuriant inspiration – gold, velvet, the glitter of candlelight on crystal. Rich and saturated colors in royal hues pair with pristine white and luxe textures. I would use soaring taper candles in candelabras, letterpress invitations on thick, marbled paper, and tissue thin masks as escort cards.
