If I could pick one place from my destination inspirations for my own wedding, it would have to be the Swiss Alps. I have this vision of saying my vows in front of towering windows in a chalet’s great room, overlooking the majestic peaks of the mountains at sunset. Since it would be a job to fly all my nearest and dearest halfway around the world for a Swiss wedding, my fantasy probably won’t get any further than this board and my serious obsession with mountain weddings.
I fell in love with the gorgeous mountaintop town of Villars when I studied abroad during college – my visit there a day after the first snow of the year inspired the design behind this board. I would pair the rich midnight blue with silvered birch bark and white candles, fir boughs, astilbe, and winter berries. Abundant candles and branches more than make up for the absence of flowers, made richer by dark wood and hints of burgundy.
