I’m off exploring the Northern California coast with my sweetie today, so it seemed like the perfect time to share this styled anniversary session from Peterson Design & Photography! The lovely Marisa Peterson has been with Brittany and Matt since their engagement session, so it was a natural fit to work with them to celebrate their one-year anniversary! They met at Victoria Beach in Laguna, CA, for a sun-filled anniversary shoot along the coast. As if the beaches of Southern California aren’t gorgeous enough, a Victorian tower gives this beach its name, with a spiral staircase built in the 1920’s descending the cliff face to the beach below. It created a gorgeous backdrop for their sweet portraits, blending into the golden sands of the cliffs surrounding the beach.
These two looked perfectly beachy chic with Southern California styling – bare feet, sun kissed waves, and an ocean blue palette. Brittany wore a cobalt blue Jessica Simpson maxi dress, with a halter top and billowing skirt that could not have been more perfect for their setting! Her emerald cut diamond engagement ring and wedding band were gorgeously accented by a diamond tennis bracelet. Marisa also served as their florist and prop stylist, putting together a charming chalkboard sign proclaiming their anniversary, along with Brittany’s sweet pink bouquet of protea and blush roses. A wooden ampersand sign made the perfect addition to their portraits, dramatically backlit as the sun sank below the waves.
Sessions like this are a joy to feature – most of my coordinating and blogging work is so focused on the details leading up to the wedding, that it’s wonderful to be reminded of what comes after. It’s beautiful to see Brittany and Matt’s joy in each other, beautifully mirroring the excitement from their engagement portraits over a year before!
