Vintage Boho Style for a Destination Wedding in Portugal

Anne and Luis chose their destination wedding venue at a villa in Portugal to suit their vintage boho style and to honor the place where the couple first met! They planned everything with Lisbon Wedding Planner at My Vintage Wedding in Portugal from their home in Dubai, looking forward to celebrating with a close group of family and friends in the beautiful villa overlooking the Atlantic! Their non-traditional wedding style and stunning rustic details were just the icing on the cake of their fun celebration to symbolize their union!

Anne fell in love with the vintage boho vibes of her beaded Tadashi Shoji dress – the low v-back and cape sleeves fit her vision of a non-traditional wedding dress, and it paired perfectly with her cage veil and feather headband to play off the Art Deco style of the dress!

The couple avoided strong colors for their wedding day, with the bridesmaids in filmy ivory maxi dresses with lace cap sleeves. Having the bridal party in the same color as the bride worked thanks to the perfect styling and contrast of her body-skimming beaded sheath dress and their airy tulle A-line skirts.

Luis also chose light summer colors for his crisp linen suit, and had his groomsmen wear khaki pants with white dress shirts and leather suspenders.

Their destination planning and venue team My Vintage Wedding in Portugal handled all of the details via email with the couple in Dubai. They sourced antique rugs to line the aisle to the vintage boho teepee ceremony backdrop, accenting the triangular altar with arrangements of eucalyptus and pampas grass. Turquoise blown glass vases added light color to complement the earth tones of the flowers and the carpeted aisle!

The couple recited their own vows to each other, reflecting on the strength of their connection. They had connected while both were in Europe – she was visiting a friend in Madrid and he was based in Portugal – and it didn’t take long for Luis to plan out how to get a job near her in Dubai. An offer to move to Abu Dhabi later and the couple were finally living in the same country – it didn’t take long for him to propose!

They reminisced about their trip to Finland – they had traveled to the arctic to see the Northern Lights and on their last day at the resort the sky had yet to cooperate. That night they saw the Aurora Borealis light up the sky and while Anne was shouting in joy she didn’t notice Luis had gotten down on one knee. He had been waiting to propose under the Northern Lights but his Plan B. was to travel to the North Pole and ask Santa Claus for a Christmas wish – which they did the next day as an engaged couple!

The couple loved the villa at Quinta where they held their wedding – guests could stay on site and they could celebrate their destination party for days at a time!

The coastal villa in Sintra is perched overlooking the Atlantic ocean, and winds blew through their outdoor reception. Their design team dressed the long dining table with decorative concrete planters that held their pampas grass centerpieces, and Casa do Marques styled the gold and white place settings to pop against the dark wooden tabletop.

They kept their reception decor simple and organic, with a raw linen table runner and airy white flower arrangements, using stone and concrete textures to echo the ivy-covered walls of the villa.

The couple had their chairs decorated with white drapery and gold signs that said ‘better together’! They repurposed their ceremony backdrop to serve as a beautiful dessert display for their rustic naked cake, flavored with lemon and elderflower to add a bright spring flavor that suited their vintage boho style.

The couple had the most magical portrait session at their ceremony site – as the sun began to set, the golden hour portraits were truly stunning. Once the sun had gone down, white strands of lights wrapped around the ceremony teepee made the backdrop even more enchanting!
