Monica and Michael met in Hawaii so it was only fitting that they planned their destination wedding in the same place they met and fell in love! The long distance pair thought it was the magic of a tropical vacation that made their meeting so special, but after she went home to Minneapolis and he returned to Australia, it was clear there was something more than holiday fun! After a year of long distance dating and long haul flights to see each other, Monica moved half a world away to be with her love in Australia – and the rest is history! Their beautiful wedding day at Hilton Hawaiian Village and Moana Surfrider is a testament to the strength of a connection forged in one of the most beautiful places on earth – how fitting that they took the next step there! Their venue coordinator, Kelli Kajiwara, helped with every detail planned from Sydney and Absolutely Loved Photography made sure it was a day to remember!
Gorgeous bride Monica fell in love with the sequin and tulle Pepper wedding dress from Blush by Hayley Paige – she found the American designer’s gown at Eternal Bridal in Sydney!
Florist Grand created lush white and green bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, complementing the airy white chapel and tropical greenery that made their ceremony at Hilton Hawaiian Village the perfect mix of timeless and tropical!
They went classic for the groom’s attire, with a black tux from MJ Bale.
The blush flower print bridesmaid dresses from Jenny Yoo were exactly what Monica had in mind, adding a hint of soft color.
The stunning Akala Chapel at the Hilton Hawaiian Village was the perfect venue for their ceremony – the couple wanted it to feel like a tropical paradise without going the beach wedding route.
Family and friends flew in from the Continental US, Australia, and Europe to celebrate Monica and Michael’s big day, so a celebration of all of their loved ones was a must! They welcomed guests from all around the world with personal details at each place setting, including hand written cards and favors from Honolulu Cookie Company!
The couple DIY’d their reception decor thanks to a floral wholesaler in Waikiki! They visited flower markets in Sydney to play around with floral decor for the tables, and loved the table runner of palms with white orchids.
The newlyweds celebrated their once in a lifetime romance back where it began, and captured the most beautiful portraits at sunset on the beach!
