Sand Dunes and Taffy – Hampton Roads Summer Wedding by Tidewater and Tulle
So happy to have the phenomenally talented Chelsea of
Tidewater and Tulle back on the blog today – I had the chance to debut her very first inspiration board on the blog back in
December. She has added so many gorgeous boards to her
portfolio and I’m very excited to share her latest, Sand Dunes and Taffy! Don’t miss my board for the West Coast over on
Tidewater and Tulle!
From Chelsea-
It’s great to be back to share another seasonal side of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with our friends over on the West Coast! Summer is our busiest and most bustling time of year with an influx of thousands of out-of-town visitors each week. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, ’tis the season for BBQs, beach visits, and sweet treats.
Inspired by our local sand dunes and fabulous and famous
Forbes saltwater taffy, this inspiration board encompasses all things warm weather elegance. Similar to my maiden name, I have always had a soft spot for this local candy company. Admittedly, I’m not the biggest sun and sand fan, so the sweet treats and friends were my biggest draw to the Oceanfront! It just wasn’t a trip to the beach without stopping into the Forbes candy shop to buy some peppermint and banana saltwater taffy.
Summer Fun in the Tidewater Area:
All summer long, there are great evening mini-concerts right on Atlantic Avenue in the proclaimed Virginia Beach Resort Area (or what we locals call Oceanfront). It’s mixed of favorite local bands and entertainment acts to keep everyone happy and enjoying summer right at the beach.
With concert and special event series all throughout May to September, Busch Gardens is a huge local favorite. Even if you’re not a roller coaster fan, this is one of the most beautiful parks around with well-manicured landscapes and well-cared for animals. It’s a great date night place!
Even though open year-round, the Farmers Market is just more lively during the summer. Offering fresh and local produce, dairy, and meats, it’s always personable at this open air market. Between April to October, they also host fun evening events!
A completely restored 18th century community during the American Revolution, this well-loved spot is a vacation home to many (and those fortunate to live 15 minutes away like myself!). With tons of historical events, restaurants, and shopping, the colonial capitol is alive and thriving through its impeccably and historically-accurate dressed staff.
