Every frame of this stunning wedding day radiates with rustic romance, from the film captures of Juicebeats Photography to the serene surroundings at River Shack Farm. The farmhouse overlooking the Holston River in Knoxville, Tennessee, perfectly encapsulated the feeling this duo wanted for their wedding day – relaxed, charming, and totally personal. Their stylish take on a rustic wedding is as refreshing as an afternoon on the river!
Rustic Romance at River Shack Farm
The sprawling farm estate offered Alisha and Evan the run of their venue for the weekend, from a relaxing night before the wedding to the day of the main event. The bride and groom got ready in their rooms at the historic farmhouse, surrounded by the bridal party. Alisha asked her bridesmaids to pick their own dresses, with three requests. Each of her attendants nailed the design brief of ‘neutral, sparkly, and glamorous’, creating a beautifully cohesive group of mismatched bridesmaids. They each carried a clutch of lavender, one of the bride’s favorite flowers. Alisha estimated that she tried on over 100 dresses, but her fitted lace gown by Essense of Australia from Monica’s Bridal was ‘The One’. The intricate lace back and figure hugging silhouette with a cathedral train was a showstopper that still suited the relaxed feel of the setting. Melissa Timm Designs created the bride’s bouquet of wildflowers, peonies, and eucalyptus leaves along with a matching floral headpiece to add a natural element to her glamorous look. For his part, Evan eschewed a traditional suit in exchange for a stylish combo of gray suit pants, suspenders, and a floral print tie over his gingham checked shirt.
The blend of simplicity and style continued into the decor that marked their big day. The drama of the river overlook provided all of the scenery they could wish for at their ceremony site. Guest tables were set in a field along the river, with strings of bistro lights hanging over the gold sequin tablecloths and greenery runners. The barn served as a dance hall, with a rustic plank table set up to hold their selection of cupcakes with twelve different flavors for guests to choose from! A petite cutting cake for the bride and groom was adorned with porcelain perfect peonies and a balsa wood cake topper with their shared last name. The mother of the bride made her homemade cinnamon candy for guests to enjoy as a sweet take home favor!
Romantic and intimate moments marked the highlight of their wedding day, from the first look Alisha shared with first her father and then her groom. The newly married couple stole a few moments along the river with their photographer, capturing memories in the later afternoon light. Once the last song played and the guests gathered outside the barn for the sparkler exit, the DJ closed the doors and played one last song just for the bride and groom!
