Romantic Fall Pastels at Malibou Lake Lodge

You’ll start dreaming of romantic fall pastels after one look at Julia and Kevin’s wedding at Malibou Lake Lodge! The Southern California couple chose the retreat venue in the Santa Monica Mountains as the setting for their secret garden meets French country aesthetic wedding day. Fine art photographer Amy Golding and event planner Sondra Wagner Events led their talented team of wedding pros to create this beautiful day that was as fun as it was picture-perfect!

Right from the start, their fall pastels palette made a gorgeous appearance in their wedding stationery! Lavender envelopes and a watercolor greenery invitations paired with gold wax seals created a dreamy garden-inspired flatlay!

Julia’s wedding style was ‘fearless romantic’, with classically feminine details and a lot of fun! Her blush silk wedding shoes were the perfect example, with crystal straps and an ankle tie to create the perfect balance between glamorous and fun!

Artists from Elwynn and Cass created the bride’s half-up braided hairstyle for effortless romance! Weaving baby’s breath into her sideswept braided added a delicate flower crown effect!

With just a few months to find her dress before the big day, Julia started to despair that she’d find ‘the one’. When she tried on the Wtoo by Watters Valera gown from BHLDN, she knew she’d found her wedding dress! The floral lace layered over the sheer neckline and playful layered skirt not only made her feel beautiful and bridal, but made her excited to wear it as a once-in-a-lifetime dress!

With her personal style described as ‘feminine, secret garden, with French aesthetics’, it was easy to see why Julia chose the beautiful fall pastels in blush and lavender for their October wedding! The bridal bouquet by De Flora Event Flowers could not have been more romantic and the purple ribbons added a beautiful splash of color to the layered skirt of her white wedding dress.

Girl squad! For her bridesmaids, Julia kept her girls in a blush pink palette and let them pick a floor-length dress that they felt best in!

Kevin added rich color to the wedding day with navy suits and brown accessories for himself and his groomsmen. He layered the color with a French blue tie for his bridal party and rocked a bowtie for himself!

This gorgeous couple met in their early twenties at a surprise party Julia was throwing for a friend. Her best friend invited the unexpected guest with a feeling he and Julia might hit it off – an shared love of the same obscure artist sparked a connection that would lead them to this heart-stopping moment of their first look at Malibou Lake Lodge.

These nature lovers were engaged on a rock climbing trip to Joshua Tree! They scaled a vista point right as the sun started to set. As they watched the light change over the desert, Kevin reminisced about their journey together and asked Julia to marry him.

The Santa Monica Mountains provided a serene backdrop for their wedding ceremony. The couple exchanged their vows in front of a greenery and flower arch with blush, mauve, and lavender roses.

Their wedding style was the perfect balance of rustic and French country aesthetics, with garden flowers that added romantic color.

The couple lit a unity candle as part of their wedding ceremony to symbolize their joining together as one family.

Wood farm tables and cane back chairs kept the reception decor light and neutral, with soft color from the greenery garlands and garden flower arrangements at each place setting.

The ceremony arch doubled as the Sweetheart Table backdrop, adding floral romance to the vintage gray and silver decor for the bride and groom!

They dressed up the fireplace with floral mantel decor and silver candle lanterns to create a cozy lounge space for the reception!

A ruffled buttercream wedding cake from Susie Cakes Bakery was the perfect finishing touch to their day with garden style flowers cascading down the tiers.

The couple snuck away for golden hour portraits with their photographer, making an intimate moment in the middle of their busy wedding day!
