I firmly believe in blogging kismet – like when yesterday’s fabulous retro styled shoot landed in my lap just as I was putting the finishing touches on my pink and turquoise wedding inspiration with a 50’s twist! It looks like it’ll be retro chic week here on HWL, as tomorrow is Part II of the gorgeous shoot by Carla Ten Eyck, so consider this Part I.5! I was originally inspired by the playful styling of this Barbie Bridal wedding dress, along with the gorgeous, bright accent colors!
The key to using vivid colors with a chic event in mind is to utilize pops of bright hues in strategic places. I kept my accent color, turquoise, to specific notes – retro chairs for the ceremony, statement shoes for the bride, stationery – to keep it from becoming overwhelming. Playing with tone also helps to add depth to the design, so multiple shades of peachy pink allows me to play with my color palette while steering away from matchy-matchy designs. The key to playing with color? Be strategic, be bold, and have fun!

Such a pretty fresh palette x
Love this – has a total Judy Jetson vibe I’m digging.
