When bride-to-be Ariana found out that peonies weren’t in season for her wedding day, she decided that hand crafted paper flowers were exactly what she needed! As the designer of Love & Paper, she was more than up to the task of creating magenta peonies for her bridal bouquet, Chanel-inspired escort cards, and an awe-inspired 8-foot wall of paper roses for their ceremony backdrop! The beauty of Elms Mansion, design and planning by Blue Gardenia Events, a twirlable Hayley Paige wedding dress, and dreamy portraits from Arte de Vie made Ariana and Micheal’s wedding day a fabulously colorful affair!
Paper Flowers Made this NOLA Wedding a Dream
The elegant gazebo in at Elms Mansion in the Garden District provided all the romance these two NOLA locals could have wished for in their wedding day! Ariana put her personal touch on the historic setting by crafting an enormous flower wall of paper roses to serve as the backdrop for their ceremony. Fat Cat Flowers created a floral chandelier that added a pop of color to the stately marble gazebo, paper flowers, and airy draperies! The sweet color continued into the bride’s bouquet, with a soft combination of ivory roses, peach and yellow ranunculus, and blush stock to play against the bold pink of her paper peonies! She kept her bridesmaids happy by opting for a mismatched bridal party, assigning a shade of soft green to each attendant and letting them pick their own dress! The groomsmens’ gray suits and green pocket squares kept their bridal party unified, while the groom stood out in a classic black suit. The bride fell in love with the whimsy and romance of Hayley Paige’s Londyn gown, with a silk taffeta bodice that suited the classic venue and a full, layered skirt that added an element of fun!
Twinkle lights glowed over the gazebo as the couple exchanged vows during an evening ceremony. They let their aisle decor stay simple to keep all eyes on the showstopping ceremony backdrop, but lanterns lining the aisle added to the feeling of warmth and welcome. The new Mr. and Mrs. got the party started with a Second Line down St. Charles Avenue, a New Orleans tradition! After returning to the venue, guests were welcomed by individual escort cards the bride hand crafted with paper roses and calligraphy leaves. The gorgeous display set the tone for their reception with soft greens, bold pinks and yellows, and sweet watercolor touches! They splurged on a band to ensure everyone danced until dawn, with Bucktown Allstars keeping everyone on the dance floor! Melissa’s Fine Pastries provided the finishing touch of the night, with a watercolor brushed wedding cake adorned with more of the bride’s paper flowers!

Most of these spectacular flowers are so real! I can’t even tell that the bouquet is made of paper flowers. Wonderful work and great photography 🙂
So impressive, right? She’s a paper artist!
