Joy Proctor envisioned an elegant and feminine bridal shoot focused on fresh design and dreamy spring florals. The lush grounds of the Provençal inspired Cal-a-Vie Health Spa, blush and lavender blooms from Kelly Kaufman Design, and truly stunning photos by Jose Villa brought to life this enchanting wedding inspiration!

Old World French Elegance in Southern California

The beautiful grounds of the Cal-a-Vie Health Spa in San Diego manage to evoke the old world charm of Southern France – and for good reason! The 400 year old chapel nestled in the formal gardens was transported from a convent in Dijon to begin a new life in the California sunshine. The antique charm of the venue inspired the exquisite artistry that went into every detail of this shoot. The couture wedding dress by Inbal Dror featured long sleeves of architectural lace with a daring open back. The fitted silhouette and sweeping train made a gorgeous statement down the aisle of the centuries old chapel, with a handmade headpiece and vintage inspired drop veil to complete the gorgeous bridal look.

Floral designer Kelly Kaufman took inspiration from the blooming spring gardens in her overflowing arrangements of hellebore, lilac, garden roses, and sweet peas in delicately tinted pastel shades of purple, blush, and peach. The dreamy color combination was echoed in the watercolor invitation suite from Love Jenna Calligraphy, with white calligraphy hand lettered over the whimsical painted designs.

Vintage decor, from organic silk linens to cut crystal glassware to antique silver knife rests, adorned the table in L’Orangerie overlooking the gardens. The signature colors and breathtaking venue were picked up in the showstopping cake from Maggie Austin, who hand painted sugar flowers to match the real blooms in the bride’s bouquet!
