Megan and Jase’s wedding was the definition of a modern love story – the two fell in love, had a child, and bought a home, making their wedding day a celebration of the life that they had built together with a ceremony to mark their next step. Maryland-based couple fell in love with the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House that fit their vision for a rustic, natural, and romantic wedding day, and worked with their highly praised planner, Adriana Marie Events, to pull it all together! Even with an unexpected rain storm, their wedding glowed with warmth and love, thanks in part to the incredible pictures from Nikki Santerre Photography!
For the bride and bridesmaids –
I always knew I wanted a boho/vintage look for my dress. Something about it felt so timeless, elegant, and romantic while pairing really well with the rustic and industrial aspects of our venue. My sister in law suggested I check out Lovely Bride and we just happened to have a boutique close by in Georgetown. I was in absolute awe when we stepped inside, and I immediately found myself browsing through the Rue de Seine rack. A few try-ons later, I had found my dream dress. Everything about it was perfect—the neckline, the way the dark nude underlay brought out the details in the heavy cotton lace, and the spectacular train… it was everything I dreamed of and I’d choose it again and again! For my bridesmaids, I knew I wanted to give everyone the freedom to choose a dress they felt comfortable in, so I picked 2 color collections from Show Me Your Mumu and gave the girls a handful of styles I liked and asked that they choose amongst themselves. It was super super easy, and the combination of colors and styles that weren’t perfectly matchy-matchy went really well with our overall look and feel.
Crimson and Clover Floral Design accented the couple’s nude and slate blue color palette with blush and mauve flowers – the soft flowers played beautifully off the dramatic contrast of Megan’s Rue de Seine wedding dress.
On Adriana’s recommendation, we went with light gray suits from The Black Tux . The process was super easy.
Funny story. As we were packing up our belongings the night before, we made a gut decision and completely changed Jase’s outfit! He was originally supposed to wear the same outfit as the groomsmen (a light gray suit), but something about it didn’t feel 100% right as we were packing it up. Jase had this stunning dark blue/gray suit from Express in our closet that matched the aesthetic of our wedding and fit him like a glove… we made a game-time decision and packed that instead. We’re so glad we did; it gave Jase that standout feeling every groom should have, and he looked damn good in it!
How beautiful are these two together? The rainy day may have created an unexpected atmosphere, but Nikki Santerre Photography turned the light into the most incredibly romantic portraits!
For their decor –
We love natural elements—a combination of metals and woods was an absolute must. We’d spent the past 2 years finding that perfect combination in our home decor, so it was wonderful how aligned we were when it came to wedding decor and aesthetic. Working in a creative field, we both love finding that balance of hard and soft, so macrame, greens, and soft colors/fabrics were the perfect contrast to the exposed brick, concrete, and wood of our venue.
The macrame arbor that marked our ceremony site stole our hearts. We wanted to find a way to pull in some of the details from my dress, and the arbor was exactly what we needed. Seeing it against the brick and concrete of the venue, adorned with greenery… it was perfect.
They filled the vintage industrial reception space with romance, adding farm tables with silk runners. They kept floral decor to a minimum by adding an abundance of candles in tall glass hurricane lamps and gold geometric lanterns, with blossoms and greenery to create an elegant runner effect. The pale blue, pink, and gold palette added warmth and creating the most welcoming atmosphere!
Megan and Jase’s priorities for their wedding day –
Jase is a drummer, we’ve shared a passion for live music our entire relationship, and so many of our friends are musically talented, so having a live band meant a lot to us. And we honestly couldn’t have been more right in our decision… not only did The Bachelor Boys Band put on an amazing show that had us and our guests dancing and signing for hours (and then some), they found some really incredible ways to mash up some of our favorite songs that made it ten times more memorable. We’d recommend them 1,000 times over.
Next, Nikki… oh, Nikki. We’ve honestly met a friend for life in this incredible woman and photographer. Jase and I had a very specific style in mind when it came to photography. We wanted a soft, subtle look with natural lighting and unique perspectives. We found Nikki through our engagement shoot venue (The Retreat at Cool Springs in VA); she was one of a few photographers who had contributed to their wedding package pamphlet and we just loved her style, so we decided to reach out. It was kismet the first few seconds of our conversation. As moms, Nikki and I connected on a different level; we just got each other and she was so easy to talk to. Our engagement shoot sealed the deal, it was everything we could have dreamed of, and the wedding photos were nothing short of amazing. We’re so in love with every single one of the photos she captured, we’ve asked for her help capturing our newborn photos for our second babe due this March.
And last but absolutely not least, Adriana Marie Events. The ease with which she coordinated our wedding was incredible. We knew she had a million and one other things going on, being the businesswoman that she is, but she always made us feel like we were her number 1 priority every time we connected. As full-time workers and parents, Jase and I knew we wanted to invest in having a coordinator to help us pull the details of the wedding together. We were a bit nervous at first wondering if anyone would be able to capture our specific style. But Adriana did after just one conversation; we were mesmerized. Her attention to detail and her talent for problem-solving really is unmatched, and her day-of staff blew us away. So happy to have been an AME couple!
