Paris is always a good idea, and for Nicole and John, it was the perfect setting for their luxury destination wedding day! John surprised his college sweetheart Nicole with a mystery trip that took them to the heart of France, proposing in a gorgeous location inspired by Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire in ‘Funny Face’. Their wedding day reflected the same timeless charm and Parisian beauty as the movie that inspired his proposal!
Luxury Destination Wedding Day in Paris
The San Francisco-based bride and groom relied on international planner Et Voilà Weddings to help bring their destination wedding to realization. They planned every detail remotely, selecting their venue at the opulent Shangri-La Paris based on photos and recommendations. The hotel’s gilded interior and signature Pink Lady cocktail were the perfect inspiration for the couple’s luxe blush and gold wedding day. They kept things simple for their intimate ceremony in the venue’s elegant rotunda, surrounded by candles and rose petals with soaring stained glass windows illuminating their vows to each other.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception complete with a French caricaturist while the newlyweds captured portraits that showcased the beauty of their love for one another in the stunning Parisian surroundings. Views of the Eiffel Tower from their private suite terrace and the banks of the Seine River provided a mesmerizing backdrop to their photo session with photographer Catherine O’Hara. Nicole looked the part of a chic Parisian bride in her silk crepe and lace bridal gown by Michal Medina. She accented the stunning trumpet silhouette with a lace trimmed cathedral veil and delicate floral clutch of ombre blush ranunculus, garden roses, peonies, astilbes, sweet peas and gardenias.
Their intimate wedding party celebrated the couple in a grand salon at the Shangri-La, with gilded marble walls and crystal chandeliers creating an opulent setting for their reception dinner. Long Kings tables suited the Napoleonic splendor of the dining room, set with soft pedestal centerpieces in blush and cream, accented with taper candles in glass hurricane vessels. They finished off the evening with an ombre blush ruffled wedding cake of almond biscuit with mousseline cream and strawberries. The couple happily left their reception at midnight to a surprise sparkler exit just as the Eiffel Tower began to shine!
