It must have been fate that landed Elise and Jay’s island bohemian wedding here, since the couple met at a Cinco de Mayo party and got engaged on Cinco de Mayo, 10 years later! The pair live just two miles from their venue, Sunset Ranch Hawaii, making it the perfect place for their wedding celebration! Hawaii photographers extraordinaire Absolutely Loved Photography made sure every moment was perfectly captured, from the peony and protea flower arrangements, the amazing custom signage by Aloha Artisans, and of course the cake created by the bride’s own Up Country Creations!
Sweet signs by Aloha Artisans set the tone for their day and added a personal touch that the bride loved!
Her convertible Maggie Sottero wedding dress from Bijou Bridal & Special Occasion fit everything Elise was looking for! The fitted lace silhouette managed to be both comfortable and incredibly flattering, while the removable tulle overskirt let her go from romantic A-line for the ceremony to slim trumpet gown for dancing!
Hawaiian Floral made sure the bride’s dreams of a peonies and proteas theme came true with her stunning bouquet combining mink proteas, pink King protea, and white peonies for a beautiful island bohemian bouquet!
The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in neutral shades to create a modern chic bridal party! The minimalist palette fit Elise’s vision to showcase the natural beauty of the venue.
The couple held a sweet First Look before their ceremony.
An unexpected rainstorm blew through their wedding day – many cultures believe rain before your wedding is a good sign! It certainly became a blessing on the couple when their pū blower sounded the traditional Hawaiian conch shell to call the ancestors and begin the ceremony and the skies cleared to let sun stream through!
The couple left most of their decor in the hands of Elise’s wedding professional friends who put everything together, but did DIY the planter boxes for their centerpieces! They held an abundance of protea varieties to add deep pink to the glossy tropical leaves and white flowers! Gold glitter dipped votives added a touch of sparkle to the clean white table linens and square bamboo plates!
With a baker for a bride, there was no doubt that the wedding cake would nearly steal the show! As wedding cake designer Up Country Creations, she knew this was her chance to create a once in a lifetime cake! The multiple tiers of the confection made sure everyone’s favorite was present, from chocolate haupia on the bottom for the groom, carrot cake in the middle for the bridesmaids, and olive oil cake with lemon curd and marscapone for the bride! Semi naked tiers with gold drizzle and white flowers kept the look clean and elegant and coconut shavings on the bottom tier kept with the tropical theme!
