Today’s woodland wedding from Quebec photographer Bonnallie Brodeur is the stuff that wedding blogger’s dreams are made of! Violaine and Gaetan were married in a beautiful summer ceremony at Haut Bois Normand in Eastman, Quebec, with some of the most stunning bohemian details that I’ve ever been lucky enough to see. The best part? Every detail – from their ceremony tipi adorned with dip-dyed fabric banners, their charming rustic feather and arrow place settings, even the geometric gemstone garlands – was all handmade! The couple worked diligently on their DIY touches for months before the wedding – even hiking in the forests near their home to harvest beams for the wedding tipi. As stunning as their wedding day is – and every photo below will attest to that – it’s the wonderful personal details that makes their day so memorable. Violaine serenaded Gaetan with a song she wrote her ukelele as her vows, and their yellow-eyed owl flew down to Gaetan’s with their rings!
They said their “I Do’s” at the historic sugar shack at Haut Bois Normand, which still harvests sap from the 160 acres of maple trees that surround the cabin. Violaine got ready in the cabins on the property, prompting Bonnallie to capture her wedding accessories in the fir groves surrounding the on-site accommodations. She simply dazzles in a romantic, backless lace dress with a garland of fresh greenery and jewelry in antique gold. Her groom’s dapper double-breasted suit was perfect for their relaxed, rustic wedding, with a collar pin in place of a tie and a fishing lure boutonniere as a nod to his love of the outdoors! This ‘pirate’ groom and his groomsman rowed across the lake in a canoe to greet his bride!

An owl?! That’s ridiculously awesome! I love how much of the couples personality is in all the details and I can’t believe that this is not a styled shoot – it’s that AMAZING!
Cannot even handle that owl. Cannot. Even.
Oh wow, I thought this was a photo shoot as well! The photos are weaving such an interesting tale in the moments captured – leaves me very intrigued! Very artistic and creative couple!
How beautiful is this wedding?! And that owl is SO adorable! Totally agree with the girls that it could easily be a styled shoot.
Every detail is so perfectly styled, I had to do a double take! I thought this might be an inspiration shoot, but it’s a real wedding, and totally handmade to boot! Extraordinary!
I had the same reaction at first! The more I learned about how much work and emotion this gorgeous couple put into their wedding, the more I fell in love with it!
