You get to have your gemstone wedding inspiration two ways in today’s Color Theory post! I’ve always been enchanted by the rich violet blue hue of iolite, so there was simply no way that this knockout shade was only going to make it into one board, so I decided to showcase two radically different ways to incorporate iolite blue into your wedding!

Iolite and Violet

First up is iolite and violet – the soft shades bleed in and out of each other, giving the palette a dreamy, ethereal quality. The near tone on tone palette opens up a lot of doors in terms of color range, but since these two are already so lovely, I wanted to accent them with antique gold and creamy ivory. The soft combination is perfect for a chic bohemian wedding with beachy details – a patterned maxi dress, vintage gold place settings and rich blue glassware, and of course, lots of gemstone jewelry!

Iolite, Coral, and Gold

The second palette takes a more bold, modern approach with a vibrant palette of coral and bright gold! The rich, purple blue tones in the iolite are gorgeously suited to sequins and crystals, creating a gorgeous sparkling backdrop of midnight blue. Vivid coral peonies pop against fields of blue sequins, while glittering geode earrings make a statement against a wedding dress in blush or gold.
