Winter is here and I can think of no better way to celebrate than this Game of Thrones wedding inspiration! No need to wait until the next season to see Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow (possibly) tie the knot – this styled shoot from Vanessa Velez incorporates stunning details that will appeal to fans of the books and show alike! From the bride’s platinum hairstyle and regal wedding dress to the groom in all black (with the perfect faux fur accessory!), dragon eggs, house sigils, and an incredible sugar Iron Throne, they bring a Song of Ice and Fire wedding to beautiful life!
Game of Thrones Wedding – A Union of Ice and Fire
The Ancient Spanish Monastery of Miami Beach, Florida, stood in for King’s Landing. The historic setting truly captured the European setting of the show, as the monastery was originally constructed in Northern Spain in 1133 AD and painstakingly recreated in Florida under the direction of William Randolph Hearst. The golden stone and intricate cloisters perfectly echoed the grandeur of the show’s Croatian filming locations. Within that regal setting, the team created the perfect inspiration for Jon and Daenerys’ fictional nuptials! They were inspired by the deep colors of passion to create this stunning inspiration set in the world of a Song of Ice and Fire, filled with luxurious jewel toned details that could grace the banquet table at a feast in the Red Keep.
Numerous imaginative elements were used to call back to the amazing design of the show that brought George R. R. Martin’s books to richly to life. Hand painted artichokes were the perfect real world stand in for dragon eggs, which make surprisingly good escort card holders. The signature scale design was echoed on Sucrette’s showstopping wedding cake, with a spun sugar cake topper that managed to evoke the Iron Throne itself.
The bride’s stunning gown by Dora Sasu would look equally at home on the dragon queen or on Margaery Tyrell with its plunging lace-trimmed neckline and open back. Delicate lace sleeves and a crystal belt add a touch of romance and femininity to the bold neckline. The groom perfectly channeled the King in the North in a black Oscar de la Renta ensemble, with a faux fur accent. The only thing that could improve upon this gorgeous imagining of their wedding is if the invitations were delivered by raven!
