French Country Cottage Wedding Style in Purple and White

We’ve all been searching for comfort and peace this past year, and when Bri Whitman Photography found something that inspired her, she translated it into this creative wedding inspiration! The magic of impressionist art, the divine colors of Monet’s Waterlilies, and the rustic charm of French country cottage design all came together in this exquisite shoot that feels like stepping into a calm spring morning, when the blossoming trees have begun to bud and there are still raindrops on the rose garden. She partnered with Allyssa Elaine Events and Roses & Mint to bring that feeling of beauty and serenity into a blueprint for a vintage country wedding at Blue Bell Farm, a historic farm and barn venue in Fayette, MO.

Country Cottage Wedding Design Ideas with Vintage Spring Flowers

This ethereal lavender and gold invitation suite combined stunning spring flowers with lilac buds and hellebore blossoms, paired with vintage cameos and silk damask bridal shoes with chiffon ribbons. The utter romance of the bridal details and invitation flatlay added to the timeless beauty of this French country cottage inspired wedding shoot!

How beautiful is this bridal dress flatlay! The lavender styling mat allowed the dreamy tulle and lace dress to shine. A signature color scheme of lilac purple and white added a whimsical yet dreamy backdrop to display the bridal details and tie in with the French country cottage elegance of the styling.

The couple got ready in the Bridal Cottage of Blue Bell Farms. Uplifted Salon did a gorgeous updo, with a soft, and natural look for Marylyn. She wore Maudie by Willowby from White Traditions Bridal House. The botanical embroidery and soft net tie back tending to the whimsical vibes. Marylyn wore a breathtaking pointed toe evening pump; a slip on mule silhouette finished with a sheer bow by Something Bleu. Andrew wore a classic black tux with swanky velvet shoes from The Black Tux.

While searching for a sense of peace in the chaos of the past two years, this design team found both inspiration and solace in the St. Louis Art Museum. A display of Claude Monet’s Waterlilies crated a transcendent moment that inspired the feeling and concept of this beautiful watercolor-inspired shoot. The vintage styling for the bride fit perfectly with the historic charm of the venue, offering timeless beauty for these enchanting fine art portraits.

As Claude Monet said, “I must have flowers, always, and always.” We put heavy emphasis on florals from Roses & Mint. Marylyn’s jaw dropping bouquet featured fragrant lilac, lavender clematis, bridal wreath spirea, butterfly ranunculus, and garden roses. Peonies and parrot tulips in soft coral were added for a touch of contrast.

The historic Blue Bell Farm painted the most perfect scenic backdrop for Marylyn and Andrew to celebrate their recent nuptials. Beautiful flowers, herbs, and garden beds, spread across the property while cows grazed in the background. The venue specializes in farm to table catering, with menu ingredients sourced from the farm’s pastures.

The ceremony location was framed with delphinium, fluffy hydrangea, lilac, and spirea in front of a willow tree. The couple chose to plant a lavender topiary together during a sweet unity ceremony.

To add to the vintage French country cottage charm of the venue, the team chose vintage pieces like this Victorian room divider turned seating chart from Pretty Little Things! Korynne + Company designed the stationery to guide guests to their seats at long white farm tables with natural wood crossback chairs.

The farmhouse reception table overlooked the gorgeous landscape with rolling hills and a pond in the background. The tablescape featured rimmed white china and glassware, gold plated flatware, and escort ribbons with calligraphy made by Susan Houseman Designs. Guests found their seats on a Victorian room divider with gorgeous florals at the base.

Spoil Me Sweetly displayed three beautiful cakes during the reception. The lavender blackberry cake was just as delicious as it was beautiful. Goodies with Glam crafted beautiful sugar cookies decorated as cameos of the couple and their monogram as favors for guests.

To flow in the vein of the inspiration from impressionism painting, Matthew Miller Art provided a live painting of Andrew and Marylyn underneath the willow tree of the ceremony site. The delicate stationery was printed on hand torn paper with a lovely monogrammed crest, and paired with lavender envelopes with a gorgeous liner by Korynne + Company. Vow books with gold calligraphy from PARWANAPaper kept sweet vows written by the couple. Vintage accents tied the impressionism art and vintage vibes together.

Our models, Marylyn and Andrew, were a couple who planned on getting married, but were forced to change their plans due to the pandemic. Instead of their dream wedding in Bali, the two took their vows in their cozy apartment via Webex from the St. Louis County Court House.
