Connie and Ken’s seaside wedding is the epitome of Southern California style! They were married at the luxurious L’Auberge Del Mar resort in near San Diego in a wedding day filled with golden sunlight and crisp white details. Their light and airy photos by Susie and Will are a perfect showcase for this stunning couple, their love story, and their vision for a lean and minimal wedding day filled with heartfelt details!
These soft, layered whites are a gorgeous way to introduce texture without adding in color. Connie wanted to keep their color palette clean and classic, and their detailing was the perfect choice for the elegant seaside hotel!
To add texture to the all white flowers, Studio Fleurish created the bride’s bouquet from anemones, ranunculus, and orchids.
Connie said Yes! to her Pronovias wedding dress at The White Dress in Corona del Mar. Her original vision included a princess ball gown but once she tried on the fitted off the shoulder dress with the designer’s signature long train, she fell in love. The cathedral length veil felt like the right choice once she tried the entire look on together.
The groom wore a bespoke suit from David August. His black bow tie was not only the perfect finishing touch, but they had it made from ties that had belonged to his father and stepfather. The sweet touch allowed him to bring in his two father figures who had tragically passed before the wedding.
Connie opted for deep sapphire blue for her bridesmaid dresses – and tux! – including a rich pop of color in their all white decor!
The couple held their ceremony overlooking the water at L’Auberge Del Mar, on the coast just north of San Diego. The beautiful hotel venue fit their vision for an intimate and outdoor wedding!
Their ceremony arbor was hung with 1000 hand folded cranes that Connie made for Ken on their first anniversary. Her mother had followed the same tradition when Connie was young, since the thousand cranes are believed to grant a wish and bring eternal happiness and luck. Connie spent over two months folding cranes! Ken’s mother strung them together, allowing the couple to incorporate them into another special milestone in their lives together.
Cranes made another appearance on the fans set out for guests enjoying the sunny Southern California weather!
The ceremony chronicled the couple’s journey from meeting in lA through their heartfelt proposal during a photo shoot on the beach!
Their photographers Susie and Will made excellent use of the grounds of L’Auberge Del Mar for the couples’ portraits, finding the most romantic settings among the white rose gardens and groves of agave.
Guests left well wishes for the couple on hand written tags and added them to a small tree!
After a quick change during Cocktail Hour, the couple’s ceremony backdrop doubled as their Sweetheart Table, giving them the lovely backdrop of the sea view and the 1000 cranes for good luck.
Their reception tables continued the crisp, white trend with monochrome flowers and a touch of greenery and gold. Connie made their seating cards herself, DIYing the marble tiles with hand lettering in gold pen! They added a glam touch with laser cu table numbers in gold acrylic.
Sweet Cheeks Baking Co nailed their vision for a clean and classic wedding cake! They added subtle marbling details to the layers at the groom’s request, and finished it with a spray of sugar anemones to mimic the wedding flowers.
One of the couple’s favorite moments from their wedding day was their dance together! They practiced a choreographed first dance that they didn’t have the chance to complete on their wedding day – so they went back to the same spot the day after and finished it together. They loved looking back on their photos of the party and seeing moments that they missed during the bustle of the wedding, including Connie’s grandfather hitting the dance floor!
