Today’s gorgeous creative wedding day is what happens when two designers marry each other! Simona and Rudo connected online and began their lives together across continents. It made perfect sense for the two to travel for their wedding day, since the perfect venue for their vision was the stunning Dukovany Castle in the Czech Republic. Their wedding day perfectly suited the creative vision of these two designers in a stunning and personal event! Gabriela Jarkovska traveled with the couple from their home in Slovakia to capture these utterly dreamy images of their wedding day!
Creative Wedding Day with European Style
For her bridal gown, Simona opted to go the beautifully bespoke route. She designed her ideal dress herself and selected the fabrics – the feathery texture of her full skirt and chic off the shoulder top were brought to life by Jarmil Tailoring for a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind wedding dress! The subtle nude color of the gown played off the delicate pastels in her bridal bouquet – event planner and stylist Ponk Rentals created her summery floral clutch out of roses, sweet peas, hydrangeas, and delphinium in subtle pastel shades of pink and blue. Her blue topaz and gold statement earrings added a bold punch of color, and she finished the look with her ‘something old’ – a diamond star pendant borrowed from the mother of the groom!
A brief summer shower threatened to move their ceremony indoors and shorted out the sound system. The couple prevailed and managed to exchange their I Do’s in the garden as planned, with their ceremony march, Plainsong by The Cure, playing on the groom’s cell phone! The minor hiccups did nothing to derail their joy at marrying each other, and Simona treasures the handkerchief she had hidden in her bouquet that caught her happy tears.
For the reception, guests were greeted with a twist on a traditional Slovakian wedding favor, mini bottles of sparkling wine and sachets of handpicked blueberries from a friend’s farm. The stunning frescoes of the ‘Monkey Hall’ at Dukovany Castle inspired the couple in their design, and perfectly suited their vision for a wedding day with botanical elements and the airiness of a conservatory space. The hall offered a lovely balance of elegance and whimsy, which translated into their event decor. Ivory and blush flowers played off the subtle shades in the painted walls, while rich greenery, bold kumquats, and brass table decor added rich elements to suit their love of botanical design. Simona added a personal touch by setting each place with her favorite glasses for prosecco, pink and gold goblets from Czech designer Zlatá Zuzana by Jozef Staník. Their final touch was also one of the most sentimental – the calligraphy menus and place cards were hand lettered by the groom’s father!
