This creative garden wedding is what happens when event planners wed – they come up with a completely unique and fresh vision and put together a stellar team of professionals to help bring it to life! It’s so lovely it’s hard to believe this is a real wedding, but bride Tory of Smith + James Events created a wedding day that celebrated her love of details while still feeling completely personal. She and her husband-to-be, Blake, brought on some of the most talented wedding professionals in Southern California to help make their wedding dreams a reality. Photographer Jose Villa, coordinator and designer Amorology, and floral artist Flowerwild gave them an unforgettable wedding day at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.
Creative Garden Wedding with a Modern Twist
At first glance, their wedding looks like a beautifully Southern California spin on a garden wedding. Blooming bougainvillea provided a pop of vibrant color to their pastel palette – bridesmaids in mismatched dresses of watercolor hues, a hanging backdrop of peach ribbons to give their ceremony movement and dreamy color, and summer garden flowers decorating every surface, including flower crowns for the bridesmaids and a floral headpiece for the bride!
The custom invitation suite from Amber Moon Design was the first hint that this charming garden party had a wild side – monochromatic floral print and a gold rorschach pattern gave the design a distinctly modern feel while tying in to the overall relaxed aesthetic. To continue the theme, they designed an enormous escort card display with photo negative flower pictures, adorned with trailing silk ribbons and displaying printed leather tags to guide each guest to their seats. Black and white ikat runners added a stylistic twist to the rustic farm tables set with peony and greenery centerpieces in hammered copper vessels.
One of the sweetest and most unique aspects of the day was their guest book – Tory and Blake asked their guests to light a candle and make a wish for the new couple. The glowing candles decorated their cake table, surrounded by a sea of wildflowers. My favorite detail – although it was nearly impossible to decide – was their stunning cake from Hey There Cupcake! Hand painted gold floral print and wafer paper flowers gave this gorgeous confection an unforgettable look!
