Don’t worry, there’s plenty of autumn inspiration to come this season, but I’m mixing things up a little with today’s cottage garden wedding inspiration! Garden weddings happen to be a particular favorite of mine, and I wanted to focus on the old-fashioned romance of a cottage garden for today’s board. A palette of lilac and antique ivory beautifully captures that sweet elegance, especially when paired with fresh greenery. The key is to keep things simple – start with a venue that boasts gorgeous gardens of its own to give yourself an already beautiful landscape to work off with. Setting the scene in a blooming garden takes care of most of the decor on its own! The ideal site is welcoming, charming, and just a little homey.
Continue the theme with lush floral arrangements spilling out of every available vessel, winding garlands of greenery filling in blank spaces, and delicate floral details that echo the romance of the theme. To maximize your venue’s impact, choose colors that suit the local flora and your wedding season – I chose to go with a palette of pale purple with soft, off-white accents. Antiqued furniture and other shabby-chic details play into the idea of a country cottage – antiqued panels hung with vines makes for the perfect escort card display, while a pleasantly worn in front porch provides a gorgeous wedding cake backdrop. To truly se the scene, keep the rest of the decor cozy by sticking with homespun textiles, plush lounging furniture, and local, seasonal treats to give guests the impression that you’ve welcome them to your home on a beautiful summer evening!

If I win the lotto, I’m buying a cottage. And if I buy a cottage, it will have this shade of lilac! 🙂
And I’m coming to visit with gluten free key lime pie so we all win!
What a pretty palette of lilac and greens. Stunning, whimsical, and colorful!
Just what I needed today! As much as I love fall, I can’t get enough of the verdant colors of a garden in bloom. Such a perfect balance of lilac, ivory and green!
I totally agree! Need to mix it up every now and then and I needed a little spring!
