Today’s traditional Basque wedding inspiration shoot from Plenty to Declare Weddings and 20Eventos is not only breathtakingly gorgeous, but is a perfect primer for planning a destination wedding inspired by the local beauty. English-based Plenty to Declare Weddings – who I have to thank for this lovely Jane Austen inspired bridal shoot – escaped to the beautiful sunshine of San Sebastian in northern Spain, and worked with a phenomenal team of local wedding professionals to create a styled shoot inspired by their beautiful location. Leire of 20Eventos envisioned a wedding that reflected the beauty and traditions of the city and the Basque region. She chose the Torre Satrústegi, an historic villa with a gorgeous panoramic view of San Sebastian and the brilliant water of the Bay of Biscay. The color palette took it’s cue from the crisp white city, the lush green forests on the surrounding mountains, and the gorgeous blue of the bay.
The Sweetheart Table – set for a classically inspired wedding breakfast – echoed the coastal elegance of the surroundings. Leire chose to use natural, seasonal flowers that are abundant in the region to add to the local flair, and echo their lovely green, white, and blue palette. Jewel toned ivy added a rustic flair to the table, in a runner accented the centerpiece, rings tied around the pale blue napkins, and sprays adorning the bride and groom’s chairs. The dessert table was another gorgeous example of the local color and history, with traditional Basque desserts like Pastel Vasco and Pantxineta! Of course, the bride and groom could not be overlooked! The wedding day attire was chosen to complement the beauty of the location, with a vintage style that echoed the history of the villa. The bride was dazzling with a backless gown with a drop waist and glittering embellishments, accented with a romantic updo and a bouquet of local hydrangeas and ivy!
