When your proposal involves a kayak trip to a private beach and a surprise picnic on the sand, your wedding day is sure to be a grand affair! Adam and Emily fully lived up to the promise of their engagement in this burgundy and blue cathedral wedding with a modern glam reception at Blackbird Brisbane. Their beautifully dramatic style ran to a one-of-a-kind couture wedding dress for the bride, bespoke English suit for the groom, and the most chic acrylic accents for their river view reception! Amazing photos by Pixel Punk Pictures and their epic video by Mitch Birchall Studios created lasting memories of this unforgettable wedding day!
The morning of the wedding, Emily and her bridesmaids got ready in personalized PJ’s with each bridal party member’s monogram! They toasted to the big day with custom champagne flutes before Emily put on her wedding dress.
The gown Emily chose from Brisbane boutique A Bridal Affair was made for portraits like these! The limited edition couture gown looked stunning from every angle, with a low illusion back surrounded by delicate scroll lace and adorned with crystals. Her long veil from All About Romance flowed into the detachable tulle overskirt for a truly unforgettable bridal look!
Emily connected with her florist Daisy & Co Flowers on Instagram and fell in love with her work. They gave her the overall look they wanted for the flowers – white and rich burgundy with lots of greenery – and let her run with it, trusting to her vision and what they learned of her aesthetic. The result could not have been more gorgeous!
The couple opted for deep burgundy as their signature color, from the bride’s bouquet by Daisy & Co Flowers to the bridesmaids’ halter dresses from Jo Mercer. They kept the rest of the palette to black, white, and neutral tones to fit their style.
They added a dash of navy with the suits for Adam and his groomsmen! They came across the deep navy suit with red trim on a trip back to Adam’s home in England and immediately ordered them for the groom and his men.
The grandeur of St Johns Cathedral Brisbane gave this couple everything they could have wanted for their wedding day, and the ceremony felt like a dream to both of them.
Their choice of ceremony venue made for incredible vows and dramatic portraits once they were husband and wife! Pixel Punk Pictures made the most of the stunning architecture to capture these beautiful moments between the bride and groom and their bridal parties.
A look at Emily’s gown in action – the fitted beaded dress was showstopping on its own, but the addition of the tulle overskirt created a silhouette perfect for a grand cathedral wedding.
They chose Blackbird Brisbane for their reception, loving the venue for the modern style of the event space and the stunning river views. The space needed minimal decor, so they added personal touches with this modern wire frame monogram and custom acrylic signs.
Guests were welcomed with these white on black acrylic details, a perfect match for the ultra-modern decor of hardwood tables and leather chairs.
The couple decided to make their own cookies for the Sweet Treats station! They treated guests from England and Australia with home baked treats as well as desserts from The Sweet Things Custom Cakes and Sprinkle and Whisk.
Their gorgeous drizzle cake utilized their signature color palette with gold dusted macarons and burgundy flowers on the white and gold cake!
