I love today’s style watch – one of my favorite trends from this year’s Ready to Wear collections has been perfectly translated into stunning bridal fashion! I was overjoyed when Zac Posen sent out a handful of gowns in luxe, metallic brocade, so imagine my excitement to see tone on tone texture walk down the runways at Bridal Fashion Week! Posen’s flirty brocade printed gowns are sure to make a splash on any red carpet, but I can’t help but feel that the medium has found its perfect match in wedding dresses!
Many of the designers I’ve included in today’s round up worked brocade or richly textured patterns into their designs by mixing tone on tone – except for the ever bold Monique Lhuillier, who built on last year’s metallic designs with a leaf pattern evoking hammered metal! Keeping things all one shade, however, alleviates one of my biggest irritations about photographing white or extremely pale gowns: intricate details that brides fall in love with can often make no impact on camera. These gowns add so much texture and depth to their light hues that even hastily lit runway photos can’t miss every stunning pattern!
