It all started with the dress. I’m sure that’s true for many brides – love at first sight and you can see all the possibilities start to unfold as soon as you found it. That’s exactly how Sarah Shuttle Creative felt when she came across the Julia dress by British designer, Alan Hannah – in love and inspired to create. The sleek lines of the one-shoulder wedding dress and the modern, architectural bow became the jumping-off point for the rest of the details in this dramatic black and blush pink shoot with Amanda Karen Photography!
Inspired by the clean lines of the focal point dress, stationery designer LouPaper chose a minimalist and modern invitation suite in black and white. Subtle blush touches matched the gorgeous flower arrangements by Emma Soulsby Flowers!
Here is where it all came together in the big picture! To offset the modern wedding dress, Sarah worked with floral designer Emma Soulsby to create lush, dramatic wedding flowers. The statement floral arch was made of roses, hydrangeas, calla lilies and dahlias.
Blush, nude, and deeper burgundy touches came together in the flowers to create a beautiful counterpoint to the sleek dress. The black cherry calla lilies were chosen for their deep, nearly black color, and for the way they echoed the architectural bow on the one-shoulder wedding dress.
Hair and Makeup Artist A Finishing Touch complemented the bride’s clean look with a smokey eye and a berry lip along with a sleek updo hairstyle.
This team knows how to make a statement for the reception! Blush silk tablecloths kept the Sweetheart Table design minimalist underneath the flower arch, with geometric black details to add a modern touch.
Glass lanterns, iron candlesticks, and minimalist place cards added pops of dramatic black to the white and silver place settings.
Even the stunning cakes were inspired by the wedding dress! Hayley Elizabeth Cake Designs created a trio of stunning cakes and an array of desserts in shades of pink, black and silver.
A large, sculptural bow on the blush pink cake echoed the lines on the wedding dress, and a black tiered cake created a fresh twist on the geode cake trend with a clutch of sugar roses emerging from silver crystals!
