Balloon Decor adds Playful Detail to a Historic Wedding Venue

Lively Photography and Wichita Coordination took inspiration from the Historic Post Office in Ottawa, Kansas, to combine an elegant venue with a playful color scheme and fabulous balloon designs!

Pink and Yellow Balloon Decor for a Stunning Modern Wedding

The signature colors of sunny yellow and playful pink made their presence known with amazing patterned invitations by Yellow Brick Graphics and flower arrangements by Heart and Soul Floral Design Studio. To create a harmonious union of fun, vibrant colors in an exuberant palette and the historic wedding venue, Kansas wedding dress shop Bella Veil Bridal Boutique sourced a stunning Lillian West gown with sheer tulle bodice and embroidered flowers and vines.

The romantic and classic A-line wedding dress silhouette featured an embellished tulle skirt, just made for twirling! Hair stylist and makeup artist Mary Kate & Company paired the modern twist on a classic bridal gown with a soft updo and side part, with romantic face framing curls.

On the creative design ideas for an intimate wedding:

In the age of smaller weddings and intimate gatherings, we wanted to create an event that would maximize the fun side of celebration while also keeping things intimate-wedding-friendly. We made a bold color statement by intentionally sticking to two main shades throughout our design–mustard yellow and millennial pink. Balloons and luxurious flowers worked together to create a look that was at once carefree and preppy. Also, the arrangement of ghost chairs in a diamond pattern for the ceremony created a space that was both visually stunning while keeping the focus on the couple and allowing each guest to fully witness their vows.

The soaring ceilings and herringbone floors of the Ballroom at the converted historic venue gave this team an opportunity to play with a unique ceremony design, using arrangements in bud vases and repurposed centerpieces to create an altar in the round for the indoor ceremony!

Intimate weddings and smaller celebrations have a lot of room to play with details! This gorgeous tablescape used creative place settings from Supply Event Rentals & Design to create pops of color with the mustard yellow napkins and taper candles, with flower arrangements of pink peonies and roses, yellow billy balls, and vibrant palm fronds.

We incorporated small floral compotes, arched candlestick holders, textured blush votives, and glass candlesticks with hurricanes and colored taper candles on top both a white farmhouse table for a head table and on rounds with mustard linens. Each place setting comprised of ceramic pink plates, fringed mustard napkins, and gorgeous blooms. The color palette was very limited to make a monochromatic statement while also creating vibrancy.

If round tables are more your thing, this gorgeous concept uses standing centerpieces and clusters of bud vases and votives to offer stunning reception options, all with a vibrant pop of yellow that proves how much table linens can transform your space!

The cake table combines a stunning statement dessert with balloon decor to make an amazing impression! The ombre garland of balloons added a playful detail behind Clever Cakes‘ monochrome yellow cake. The embroidery design on the layered cake created a floral and vine pattern that echoed the details on the bride’s wedding dress! Party decor suppliers Confetti & Cashmere created a custom balloon garland to dress up the white event venue, creating a fabulously fun detail to this stunning day!

The flowers were incredibly luxe and colorful. Each bloom added a pop of color and character to the design. Although we incorporated balloons to introduce playfulness to the design, the florals worked worked with them to keep the overall mood of the event elegant. For the cake, Ashley from Clever Cakes opted for a completely monochromatic look in a mustard yellow shade, adorned with embroidery detailing in buttercream.

The stately Speakeasy bar in the Historic Post Office offered another place to dress up with balloon decor! Gorgeous flower arrangements and garlands of colorful balloons transformed the 1930’s-style bar to add fun details to the downstairs cocktail hour space.

The gorgeous limestone facade and classical columns got in on the balloon decor treatment with columns of pink and yellow balloons, perfect for amazing photos to cap off the day!
