Wedding Details Inspired by South American Folk Art
Patterns reminiscent of Incan pottery and a colorful palette brought the South American folk art inspiration into the beautiful invitations designed by Claudia Strenger! She included colorful tassels to hint at the gorgeous textile details that would be woven throughout the rest of the shoot to add playful texture and pops of color.
The Villa del Sol d’Oro in Sierra Madre, CA, and surrounding gardens in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains created the perfect combination of private estate and historic villa for this beautiful outdoor wedding! Jovial Floral Co. drew on the local colors and plants to create the free standing ceremony flower pillars – vibrant pink bougainvillea was the main component, with pops of coral and peach introduced with Coral Charm peonies, ranunculus, and hot pink lisianthus.
The bride’s playful style channeled South American folk art in her colorful tassel earrings, making a stunning statement over the plunge neckline of her bohemian lace wedding dress. The gorgeous look was set off by a half up bridal hairstyle and a bold pink bougainvillea bouquet!
Bamboo ceremony chairs were draped with colorful striped Aztec blankets to bring in South American folk art colors and textiles to the beautiful vows!
The Italian villa was the perfect location to add a terra cotta and stucco colors and textures to the intimate terrace wedding reception. A single long dining table was set for the bride and groom to celebrate their micro wedding, but what it lacked in seats it more than made up for in color!
A teal velvet linen created the perfect colorful base for the woven raffia place mats. Pink and yellow pottery plates were stacked to create a vibrant place setting, and topped with a custom semi-circle menu adorned with a fuchsia silk tassel!
The design team mixed colorful Fiesta glassware with small flower arrangements in pottery vases to create the festive and fun tabletop décor! The small centerpieces of pastel ranunculus, bold lisianthus , mini gardenias and lilac Queen Anne’s lace added texture and color to the beautiful tabelscape.
A harpist from Two Towns Entertainment serenaded the lovely couple for their intimate First Dance together on the villa’s terrace!
Cocoaberry Cake Co never fails to create a work of cake art! This vibrant feather cake design showcased tiers sculpted to look like fluffy pillows, each accented with a colorful sugar tassel. The handmade feather design gave it the most gorgeous vibrant details, with inspiration drawn from the craftsmanship of artisans in South American who were experts in weaving patterns together in rugs and textiles. It’s amazing to see those textures rendered in cake!
H&L Lovely Creations and Provenance Rentals took creative wedding ideas to the next level with this bar display combined with a colorful cake backdrop! The custom designed bar wall showcased canned cocktails and craft agave tequila – not to mention puns based on the Andean inspiration with flavors like ‘Como Te Llama’ margaritas! Handcrafted macramé tassels brought even more South American color and texture into the design! Potted plants were used both as decorative details and living favors for a fun and personal wedding touch!
Who doesn’t love color? This gorgeous free standing floral ceremony installation combines the rich hues of Southern California with all of its Latin and South American influences in summery arrangements that tied in with the iconic cypress avenue and formal gardens.
