Italian weddings are known to be stylish and romantic, so Francesca pulled out all the stops for her Lake Como villa wedding day! She chose her elegant Enzoani wedding dress after trying on many different styles – the simple fitted silhouette with a v-neckline and unique back detail beautifully fit her wedding style. The cut out back had sheer panels lined with strands of crystals to create a stunning moment in her portraits!
The couple knew that they wanted to honor Francesca’s Italian heritage and have a destination wedding. They turned to local planner I Do in Lake Como to help them find the perfect place –
Being half Italian myself, I had dreamt of getting married in Italy for as long as I could remember. We first visited Lake Como to meet Zaira our wedding planner and to have a look at venues in August 2018. We fell in love not only with the lake but Villa Regina Teodolinda the minute we saw it. The vision we had for our wedding day was to have a stunning venue, with great food and plenty of wine flowing! The venue was perfect for the romantic and intimate wedding we always wanted. We kept the colour scheme fresh with blush pink and bits of rose gold added in.
The Bride
In keeping with her simple and fresh vision for the wedding day, Francesca carried a bouquet of olive leaves and eucalyptus, with the greenery accenting her simple fitted wedding dress. Her bridesmaids wore long pink dresses and had pink roses in their bouquets for an accent color!
Daniel visited T.M Lewin to find his navy suit, with brown shoes and blush pink ties to complement the bridesmaid dresses!
They kept the ceremony simple to let their vows and the views of the lake take center stage! Barbara Botta created the ceremony flower arrangements of pink O’Hara garden roses, sweet avalanche roses, white dolomiti roses, gypsophila and white veronica to accent the gorgeous blue of Lake Como in the background.
Guests enjoyed an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the lake while Francesca and Daniel stole some time for portraits with their photographer! Prosecco and Aperol Spritz cocktails were the perfect choices for an Italian summer wedding!
The couple captured intimate moments with fine art photography style alongside the dock of their private villa!
The couple met through friends and had a few chance encounters over the years before going on a proper date. A few years later, on a holiday to St. Ives in Cornwall, Daniel popped the question with a hidden ‘message in a bottle’ proposal on the beach!
Lake Como Villa Wedding Reception Style
The couple had their intimate wedding reception for forty guests set on the terrace. The warm cream stone and blue shutters of the villa provided a romantic backdrop for the long dining table with elegant gold parigina chairs. A garland of olive branches and eucalyptus leaves made for a simple yet classically Italian table setting, accented with crystal glasses and porcelain charger plates with a vintage scrollwork pattern. Each place setting was accented with a sprig of fresh rosemary.
The trees surrounding the villa were wrapped in string lights to add to the fairy tale atmosphere of the al fresco reception dinner. Blooming hydrangeas added to the beautiful garden feeling of the venue and created a stunning space for guests to celebrate!
Their Lake Como villa wedding was an enchanting way to celebrate along the beautiful lake! Views of Laglio and Qaurzano glittered as lights came on along the water.
Food was a top priority for the couple, as it should be for an Italian wedding! Sunlake Catering made sure that the wedding food lived up to the couple’s every expectation for their destination wedding.
For dessert, they enjoyed a traditional Italian Millefoglie cake layered with berries and Chantilly cream, alongside mini desserts and a stunning popsicle display to help guests cool off!
