Erika and Brendan pulled off a rustic wedding in the heart of Williamsburg, inspired by their non-traditional wedding venue at Brooklyn Winery to embrace an industrial farmhouse theme with reclaimed wood, lots of greenery, and some truly unique details! They personalized their laid-back wedding in the most fun ways like a personalize jukebox for their playlist and a very memorable cake topper that managed to drop the ‘F-bomb’, as the bride put it!
Eager Hearts Photography Co and August Sage and Violet helped this Brooklyn twosome plan the perfect wedding day to express how happy they were to have found each other in a city of millions, embracing the unique style of Williamsburg and channeling the rustic industrial decor of their venue into the details that made their wedding feel special. The moody photography style was the perfect way to capture their candlelight dinner and cozy farmhouse vibes in the middle of the city!

Industrial Farmhouse Wedding Style at Brooklyn Winery
The most important thing was that the wedding was comfortable, fun and represented us. We had been to so many stiff and awkward weddings that we wanted our special day to be a fun celebration for everyone. We loved the idea of complimenting Brooklyn Winery’s wall of greenery with our own. We wanted luscious greenery and full flowers everywhere. Our colors were green, navy, gold, and pale pinks. We chose to have our wedding at the Brooklyn Winery as it really reflected the rustic urban vibe we were going for. Everything from their salvage wooden walls, to unique antique place settings. We absolutely fell in love with the space. It was perfect for our intimate Brooklyn wedding.

On their wedding day styling and attire –
I wanted to feel beautiful yet comfortable. For us the attire was more about the little details. My dress was so comfortable but the beauty was in the lace detail in the back. Since it was a summer wedding, we thought a navy blue suit would be a great look for Brendan.
I knew I wanted to wear my great grandmother’s opal ring. It was beautiful and I just so clearly remember that on her hands. From there my dad made me a matching opal necklace to wear on a special day. Both of these pieces were so beautiful and special to have in our family.
Flowers and greenery decor played a huge part in personalizing their non-traditional wedding venue! The reclaimed wood walls of the venue created an amazing vertical garden of air plants, inspiring the couple to keep the details lush and organic to fit the space. Their florist, August Sage and Violet, absolutely nailed a design that felt cohesive with the venue and fit the industrial farmhouse style!
The flowers were one of the most important parts of our wedding. I knew that the florals we selected would really set the tone and vibe for our wedding. Brooklyn Winery had a section of frosted glass that people traditionally get married in front of and I had this idea to do this giant floral arrangement across it. I really wanted this to be luscious, textured, and just almost appear to be dripping flowers. The end result was beautiful. To incorporate the greenery aspect, we wanted to have greenery at the end of each chair in the aisle.

How they personalized their wedding day playlist –
The most important thing was that the wedding felt like us. So one thing that we splurged on was renting a jukebox for our reception. The company we rented it from was so accommodating and let us put our own music in the jukebox. One of our favorite things to do is to find a dive bar with a great jukebox, so being able to incorporate this into our wedding was perfect! We had a great mix of music in the box and all of our guests enjoyed playing DJ.
A Non-Traditional Wedding Reception in Williamsburg with Greenery and Candlelight
On their wedding favors and reception decor –
To keep with the greenery theme, our favors were also our place settings. Tiny pots that we painted navy filled with unique succulents.

For our table settings we just wanted to have unique smaller arrangements mixed with tall candles to create a really sweet, romantic vibe.
They created DIY wedding decor to add a personal touch and tie in the aesthetic of their non-traditional venue even further! They created
Brendan and I made our table numbles our of planks of wood that we cut and stained and then attached mailbox numbers onto them that we painted gold. It really matched the decor and theme of Brooklyn Winery.

Loving this cheeky cake topper! Such a hilarious way to decorate your cake – and with the sweetest explanation behind it! They worked with Baked NYC for this lovely rustic wedding cake!
We looked everywhere for the perfect wedding cake topper. And all of them were either cheesy or sexist. And then I finally found the topper that said, “F*cking Finally” And that was perfect for us! Not because Brendan dragged his feet, we only dated a year in half before getting engaged, but more so, we are bit older, getting married at 32. For us, it was f*cking finally we found the right person after dating so many duds in NYC. The cake was naked to help with the rustic theme and topped with some of our beautiful greenery. The flavor was amazing! We did two layers of vanilla cake and one layer of coconut all with a honey buttercream icing. It was delicious!
