This bella vista Tahoe wedding celebrates everything that the mountain lake has to offer, with stunning views of the water, the woods, and the sky! Katey and Mario were married in a beautiful ceremony on the lake, with handmade decor that allowed them to add personal details to their wedding, with the help of Merrily Wed and Katherine Nicole Photography!
The couple met as neighbors living in Sacramento – they noticed each other with passing hello’s, but it wasn’t until Katey’s roommate realized that Mario had been her childhood friend that their connection truly started to come together.
Four years later saw them hiking at Echo Lake, where Mario proposed with a picnic on the pier!
The couple chose a neutral color scheme for their woodland wedding, including the bride’s nude lace wedding dress and the bridesmaids in mismatched dresses from Lulu’s in blush, taupe, champagne, and gray to create a mixed palette!
The beautiful setting at Villa Bella Tahoe estate gave them the best of everything Lake Tahoe has to offer, with stunning waterside views and beautiful serene forests. The couple chose to skip a First Look, so Katey had a chance to take stunning bridal portraits among the trees.
The couple both wore bespoke for their wedding day! The bride’s Viola gown from WTOO by Watters was customized by removing the illusion netting and buttons to create an open back, and the groom had a custom suit made by R. Douglas Custom Clothier. They personalized it down to the tiny details, like the wedding date sewn into his jacket collar! The groomsmen looked summer ready in khaki and navy suit pants with leather suspenders.
The couple knew that Lake Tahoe held a special place in their hearts, making it the perfect place for them to get married! They were excited to pair the groom’s creativity and the bride’s vision at their dream venue, a private estate overlooking the lake. Not only did they have stunning views from North Lake Tahoe, but they had space to celebrate in style!
The groom handmade much of the decor, including the circular manzanita arch that served as their ceremony backdrop! Their florist, Twine and Dandy, decorated it with climbing roses, peach flowers, and pampas grass. The open arch allowed the beauty of the lake to shine through and be a beautiful part of their wedding ceremony.
Katherine Nicole Photography took the couple on an adventure photo session in the beautiful woods surrounding Villa Bella Tahoe for stunning woodland portraits! The light coming through the trees was nothing short of magical!
Blue and yellow were the signature colors for their lakeside tented reception, with a navy blue seating chart displayed on a geometric gold frame.
Merrily Wed mixed patterns for the wedding reception decor, alternating between wooden farm tables and round dining tables to create an eclectic mix. To ie them together, the bride selected a Prairie Blue and White pattern linen for the round tables and used the same print for napkins on the farm tables. Yellow vintage glassware and amber bud vases added a warm glow of color to the centerpieces!
For dinner, As You Wish Catering put together a selection of the couple’s favorite cuisine – Mexican food! Menus printed on kraft paper bags filled with tortilla chips to kick off dinner!
Wire rimmed geometric glass lanterns were used throughout the decor, from the cozy reception lounge tipi to the bar signs with their custom signature cocktails! They chose a margarita to serve with their Mexican wedding menu and a Strawberry Smash, with vodka, muddled with berries, mint, honey, lime juice, and soda water.
Sugar Pine Cakery created the queen of all cookie bars! They had a layered chocolate chip sandwich cookie cake as a wedding cake alternative, surrounded by displays of whoopie pies, snickerdoodles, chocolate mudslides and lavender tea cookies. Guests were treated to the cookie bar menu on a hand lettered chalkboard sign, and invited to take some to enjoy later – doubling as dessert and favors!
There’s nothing like a sunset to create the most bella vista Tahoe view! Amazing photos of their First Dance right on the edge of the lake captured the magical mountain setting and the stunning colors!
