Alternative Wedding Dress for a City Brewery Wedding

Good food, good drinks, and an alternative wedding dress made for the sweetest and most personal picks for Jaclyn and Alex’s non-traditional Cincinnati wedding day! Robin Mckerrell Photography shot their downtown city wedding, with an industrial brewery venue at Rhinegeist and creative, personal details executed by Social Design and Events. The overall feel was relaxed and informal with lots of good food and good company!

Orange and yellow made a splash of color against the city skyline for a fresh color palette. Instead of a long white gown, Jaclyn opted for an alternative wedding dress with a structured Viktor & Rolf cocktail dress that she found at an NY Trunk Show. The embellished structural dress had pockets and a fabulously architectural bow – she loved it the minute she put it on!

After getting ready at 21 C Hotel in downtown Cincinnati, the couple held their first look on a bustling city corner. With Robin Mckerrell Photography  in tow, they captured a stunning city portrait session before the ceremony.

The couple met on a dating app – proof they really do work! Jacyln’s friend set up her account after the bride-to-be relocated from NY to Michigan and didn’t know anyone in the area until she met Alex. A nine hour date, five years and five moves later, Alex proposed right before the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve 2017!

Alex also had a non-traditional wedding outfit made, choosing a brown and beige houndstooth fabric for his bespoke suit!

The couple incorporated traditional elements into their wedding but added their own spin – the beautiful modern design of their Ketubah kept the look and feel personal to their style!

The couple worked with Queen City Vignette to create a whimsical, modern chuppah to play off the industrial exposed brick in The Clubhouse at Rhinegeist brewery. The exuberant display of orange, peach, and white poppies, roses, lunaria flowers, and dried grass created a stunning and organic ceremony backdrop!

The couple lined the aisle with votive candles to create a warm glow for their indoor ceremony, along with the bistro lights strung in the rafters overhead. Afterwards, guests gathered in the rustic industrial Annex space. Eve Floral Co accented the steel stairs and arching concrete beams with floral displays of poppies, delphiniums, roses, and dried ruscus to add organic charm to the brewery.

The modern color palette of concrete gray accented the industrial venue perfectly, with warm accents of orange and yellow. Caterer Pleasantry crafted a menu of charred cauliflower, Farro salad, roast chicken, and skirt steak to complement the local craft beers on tap! Good food and drink was a top priority to both the bride and groom, who prioritized a fun and welcoming atmosphere over traditional wedding formalities.

A rooftop photo shoot at sunset captured these amazing moments from their city wedding day!

Platters of delicious cookies, bars, and treats from Brown Bear Bakes and gelato from La Grassa stood in for a traditional wedding cake, while friend of the couple Kerrie Mannor made a small cutting cake topped with potato chips for the bride and groom!

One last wedding dress alternative! Jaclyn had envisioned herself wedding pants to her wedding before finding the cocktail dress of her dreams, but a gold lame jumpsuit was her dancing outfit of choice!
