Brittany and Alex planned an intimate wedding that reflected their love of their hometown as much as their love for each other! Many of the personal touches in their wedding day honored Birmingham, the city where Brittany and Alex met in high school and eventually became more than friends in college. With their wedding ceremony at Birmingham Museum of Art to the industrial cocktail reception at B&A Warehouse, their choices reflected the couples’ personal style of romantic and classic with a modern twist.
Modern Black Tie Style for a Warehouse Wedding
After a quiet morning getting ready with their individual bridal parties, Brittany and Alex had an intimate moment during their first look on the porch of their downtown Birmingham Hotel. Their wedding day timeline was structured to allow the pair to enjoy quiet moments together to take in the enormity of their wedding day – even with the first look behind them, Brittany fondly recalled waiting to walk down the aisle overwhelmed with the excitement of marrying her best friend.
Both the bride and groom’s attire reflected their blend of classic black tie style with a modern Southern twist. Alex paired his black tuxedo and bow tie with an organic greenery boutonniere. Brittany gave her wedding dress a modern spin with bridal separates by Alexandra Grecco, pairing a full tulle skirt and cap sleeve lace crop top for a timeless look. She wore her great-grandmother’s opal earrings and tied the stems of her pastel bouquet with a monogrammed handkerchief that belonged to her father. For the bridesmaids, Brittany let them pick mismatched dresses from Show Me Your Mumu – the individual silhouettes were unified by the pale lavender color and spring garden bouquets.
While their bridal party and ceremony was the epitome of timeless chic, the reception was a full on party. They accented the exposed brick walls and hanging bistro lights of their warehouse venue with greenery chandeliers and simple, rustic decor. The couple prioritized specialty cocktails and food stations, serving Southern fare such as fried okra, pulled pork sliders, and mac & cheese. A fajita bar and fried rice station added extra flavor and ensured that guests had enough energy to dance to the Motown band. An Arnold Palmer station and golf ball cake pops gave a nod to their shared love of golf since their wedding fell on Masters weekend!
