I hope you’re prepared for a lot of pretty today, because this homespun country wedding from Dust Studios is bringing it in spades! Karissa and Henry had a perfect early autumn day in Iowa for their wedding – the gorgeous, lush green surroundings perfectly accented their romantic gray, orange, and yellow color scheme. Their day started with final preparations for the wedding – Karissa had chosen to hand make most of their decor, from the cheerful bouquets she and the bridesmaids carried, the gents’ boutonnieres, and the rustic chic centerpieces for the reception – which took an unexpected turn when she fell ill. The beauty of a wedding, however, is that her nearest and dearest were on hand to celebrate, and also to pitch in when it came to putting the finishing touches on the wedding she had planned.
No matter how she may have been feeling, Karissa looked radiant when it came time for their first look at Salisbury House, a historic manor and cultural center that has become an Iowa landmark. Her delicately knotted braid pinned with gold leaves and her romantic lace gown with a plunging back added a stunning elegance to their country affair. Henry looked quite dapper in his extra long gray suit with suspenders and a checked bow tie for the ultimate country groom’s attire! They enjoyed some quiet time, and a pre-ceremony prayer circle with their attendants, while they waited for guests to arrive at Barnes’ Place for the reception. Once the music began, they processed down a leafy avenue of oak trees and through an enormous wooden gate to exchange their vows. The reception was held in the venue’s reconstructed barn, with soaring cathedral ceilings lit from the handmade Mason jar and Edison bulb chandelier!
