Today’s sweet lemon grove engagement session from Alexandra Wallace is the first installment of Sweetheart Sunday – the perfect day to get cozy and take a look at some people in love! Alyssa and BJ celebrated their engagement in the rain-washed orchard and barn at the Dana Powers House in Southern California. The natural beauty of a SoCal lemon grove would have been a stunning enough location for their portraits, but the barn is also a fabulously rustic venue! How could anyone resist the beautiful, vintage chandeliers?
I love beautiful, well-thought out engagement sessions like this because it provides such a wonderful opportunity to get a sense of a couple prior to their wedding. Photos from the session make wonderful additions to a wedding – canvases of engagement portraits can decorate a reception entryway, or can be signed by guests for a gorgeous, highly visual guest book alternative! A great engagement session should act as a teaser for the feel of the wedding itself, while both should be an interpretation of the couple and their style. Last but certainly not least, a pre-wedding portrait session is an amazing opportunity to work closely with your photographer prior to the big day! Photographers take this opportunity to learn more about a couple – their comfort zones, their likes and dislikes, and the best way to shoot them. Taking the time to create a personal relationship prior to the ceremony will ensure that your wedding photos are the best they can be! I’m so excited to launch this new feature on Hey Wedding Lady, and to feature even more couples in love!
