The Perfect Destination Wedding for Adventure Lovers

Adventure lovers will be head over heels for this incredible destination wedding in Guatemala! Texas based couple Amanda and Austin chose to celebrate in Antigua – the ruins of the Convent of Santa Clara could not have created a more breathtaking backdrop for their natural glam wedding day! Daniel Lopez Perez Photography and I Do, Guatemala helped them bring their wedding vision to life!

The Perfect Destination Wedding for Adventure Lovers

Amanda and Austin found the perfect setting for their once in a lifetime wedding day in the picturesque village of Antigua. The Spanish architecture and colorful streets of the World Heritage site offered a welcoming setting for these adventure lovers. Many of the old world buildings stand in picturesque ruins after earthquakes in the 1700’s, offering a dramatic backdrop for their stunning destination wedding. They held their ceremony in the chapel of the Convent of Santa Clara, with glamorous greenery and gold flower arrangements by Addy Florales taking advantage of the soaring ceilings and ancient stone backdrop. Flower petals lined the aisle leading to a modern geometric ceremony backdrop at the altar.

The soaring basilica hosted their reception, with a single long table set under the open sky. A runner of greenery, flowers, and modern glass candleholders added an elemental touch to the glamorous decor, with towering pampas grass arrangements that anchored the head of the table. The couple’s three tier wedding cake tied in their chic blue and gold color palette with edible sequins and a metallic map motif. Their script cake topper proclaimed that their adventure was just beginning!

Amanda complemented the old world glamour of the venue with her fitted lace Kenneth Winston wedding gown. She paired the romantic dress with a white cascade bouquet with subtle hints of purple and green. Her bridesmaids looked picture perfect in navy tulle gowns while Austin and his groomsmen looked black tie sharp. Their utterly classic wedding took an exciting turn during La Hora Loca, a local tradition! They surprised guests with salsa dancers, stilt walkers, and fireworks that exploded in the night sky directly over the party!
