Modern Chic Elopement with High Fashion Style

This destination elopement is timeless with a twist, thanks to modern chic bridal styling, a marigold yellow and dusty blue color scheme, and a gorgeous setting along the National Mall. Sarah Aaron Photography and Satin and Sage Events set out to create a wedding inspiration filled with heartfelt emotion – they managed to make national landmarks feel intimate with this artfully styled shoot in DC!

Rich colors are a great way to make a minimalist event feel well styled and luxe, and this team nailed it with a marigold yellow and indigo blue palette!

Hair stylist Teena Smith opted for a dramatic bridal look to set off the clean lines and high neck of the minimalist Sarah Seven wedding dress. A high ponytail with lots of volume showed off the cut out back while makeup artist Crista Gutyria Artistry went for deep smoky eyes and a blushing lip. Geode crystal earrings perfectly showed off the high neckline of the dress with chic cap sleeves.

While the bride’s look may have been clean and minimal, her bouquet was anything but! Lucky Penny Floral combined unexpected shades of lavender and coral in a gorgeously textured bouquet of lilac, King protea, hypericum berries, and thistle. The marigold ribbon accented the bold colors of the flowers with a pop of yellow.

The modern lines of the Sarah Seven played with tantalizing cut outs, offsetting the high neckline with a front slit skirt and covered shoulders with an open back.

The National Mall in Washington, DC, offered a stunning location for intimate elopement portraits – how can you get more dramatic than this marble rotunda?

The couple cozied up with a Tuscan style picnic that beautifully suited the destination elopement feel of the shoot. A charcuterie and cheese platter awaited, set on vintage crates from Something Vintage Rentals to create the perfect rustic vibe in the middle of the National Mall. The couple toasted with champagne before digging in to an intimate wedding cake for two from Whipped Cakes & Confections.

The bride topped her modern wedding dress with one of my current favorite bridal trends – a leather jacket!

These two, with their modern chic style and colorful accents, proved you can have a destination wedding anywhere!
