Magical Tuscan Wedding Day with a Bespoke Bridal Gown

Tiffany and Carlos’ had the most magical wedding day, from their castle venue in the Tuscan countryside to the bride’s stunning bespoke wedding dress that she designed herself! The New York based couple met in high school, forging a relationship over a decade in the making before their incredible destination wedding. Since they were planning from afar, they trusted Italian planner The Tuscan Wedding to bring their big day together, from the incredible photos by Stefano Santucci to the venue at Castello di Vincigliata. The bride, herself a fashion stylist, worked with her family’s seamstress to create a one of a kind heirloom wedding dress that could not be more perfect for a fairy tale wedding!

Tiffany dreamed of a dress fit for a princess and knew that she would need to think outside the box to find just what she was looking for. As an accomplished fashion stylist, she had a picture of just what she wanted to look like on her wedding day. To create the bespoke two piece gown that she wore on her wedding day, Tiffany sourced fabric from the Garment District in NYC, finding an archival Valentino brocade to add an applique finish to the gown. She worked with her mother and their family seamstress in Venezuela to design and create the long sleeve mermaid dress with an overskirt that turned it from fitted into a ball gown fit for a princess!

The utter romance of the dress was an excellent fit for their venue, Castello di Vincigliata, in the hills above Florence. The stunning castle fit their vision for their wedding, with room for their ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour in a garden, and dinner in an elegantly draped hall.
Tiffany opted for soft colors to suit the elegant castello surroundings – Flowers Living created her bouquet with dusty pink and soft greenery to add a seasonal feel. A King Protea fit their color palette and added a wild touch to Tiffany’s bridal bouquet, along with eucalyptus and olive branches in a nod to the groom’s Greek heritage.

Their wedding day is the epitome of fairy tale style! Stefano Santucci made sure to capture the breathtaking surroundings at every turn.

Carlos also had a bespoke outfit made for the wedding, with an Italian wool three piece suit in navy blue. They added a special nod to their wedding date and a favorite movie by embroidering the lining with ‘May the Fourth Be With Us’!

The couple had a traditional string quartet play their ceremony music, but added a personal twist with a rendition of one of their favorite trance songs from their first year of dating!

After eleven years together, the couple completed their journey to the aisle and exchanged vows in the courtyard of the castello. Family and friends came from all over the world to celebrate with them, including Tiffany’s grandmother who had flown to Italy to surprise the bride! Tiffany was overwhelmed with emotion as she walked down the aisle and saw the look on her groom’s face, and the family that surrounded them.

After saying I Do, the couple took some quiet time on the castle grounds for gorgeous portraits. Tiffany changed into her reception look, removing the overskirt that transformed her gown into a princess’s dress to showcase the fitted mermaid silhouette!

They opted for a mix of rustic wood, dreamy drapery, and rose gold accents for their reception. More olive branches and eucalyptus made their appearance, with chandeliers crafted from branches hanging over the guests’ tables.

Rose gold damask accents on their stationery and table numbers evoked the same detailing as the vintage Valentino lace on Tiffany’s bespoke wedding dress!

The guests were treated to Tuscan cuisine along with custom cocktails created by the groom! He made an Amaro, Italian liqueur, to serve as an aperitif, infusing the flavors of star anise, cardamom and Szechuan peppercorn. His signature cocktails brought more of their favorite flavors to the evening and showcased the couple’s heritage, creating a Greek concoction of ouzo, bergamot and mint, while the other featured Vin Santo, Mirto, and cognac.

The traditional mille folglie Italian wedding cake was prepared in front of their guests, doubling as dessert and entertainment!

The couple made sure their reception was a reflection of their passion and joy in a good party – in honor the bride’s Venezuelan heritage, they incorporated ‘hora loca’ into their dance party, bringing out costumes and light up accessories to give the final hours a burst of energy!

A last minute DJ cancellation meant that the groom was pressed into service, playing a set of house music to close out the night.
