I had the chance to do a little bridal sleuthing today, on behalf of my best friend. She stumbled across this dress on Pinterest and absolutely fell in love with it. You know the feeling - head over heels, can’t stop thinking about it, ready to drop some money on it even if she just wears it around the house for awhile.

But she couldn’t find it anywhere. The original pin linked to the photographer’s blog but didn’t give any designer information about who made the dress. She came to me to see if I recognized the designer but I had no idea. My only recommendation was to email the designer, since that had worked so well the last time I put on my deerstalker and tracked down that wedding ring bracelet that approximately half of Tumblr wanted to buy.
I decided to give it another shot for her and ended up using the information at hand - the bride’s name and the photographer. I googled ‘sarah benfield photography wedding dress’ and a wealth of links popped up, probably thanks to brides-to-be with a similar fixation as my friend.

Luckily someone else had done the legwork on this one, and Possessionista had already tracked down the designer and the dress number. She had gone several steps further than me -she tracked down the planner using the photographer’s watermark and got the contact information for the bride’s mother, who confirmed the designer. The dress can be found here. And voila! Case closed.
