Some of you wonder why it takes me so long to pull together your inspiration board after sending me a request so here’s a little glimpse into my process!
I love getting requests - especially the challenging ones because it allows me to stretch my boundaries and really look at this from a professional angle. Brides who hire me may come to me with a vision that I don’t personally share so I need to be able to see it from their perspective and create their vision.

Once I receive the request I create a folder for your board so I can keep all of the images together. Here are all the ones I have in the works right now.

I use Picasa to organize all the photos I find on wedding blogs. Since I’m working towards getting ads and sponsors to enable me to do this full time and actually build a business as an event stylist, I’m working to make sure that all photos are properly attributed to the original post.

Once I start working on a board I go through my folders of photos organized by type like Reception and Cake and Desserts. Any photos that strike me, I move into the folder for the board so I can start building the board from a central idea or two. I add everything that fits so I can keep refining and adjusting the selections.

Once I feel like I have all the elements I need - ceremony, reception space, cake or desserts, centerpieces, and anything specific to the request - I start playing with the layout in InDesign until I feel it’s ready to post!
