I think they work really well for some women - and are a nightmare for others! My best friend was asked to wear them as a bridesmaid last summer so she asked me to help her do a trial run of the style she wanted. We discovered that convertible dresses and strapless bras have a very distant relationship with each other - probably why all the models you see wearing them are pretty much boobless. We ended up styling it as a halter so she could wear halter bra straps and keep anything from escaping, and used approximately 8 million safety pins to keep it all in place.

My advice - plan a girl’s day to try them all on together and play with the different style options. Once they’re all tied on and knotted in place, shift and move around to make sure that it’s all going to stay. That and ask your friend to keep an open mind if they turn out to be less workable.
