I am in love with the dramatic contrasts in this natural bohemian wedding shoot – the soft greenery against the Red Desert of South Africa, the matte black decor paired with organic florals, and the sweet lace wedding dress against the harsh landscape. Destination wedding photographer Maxeen Kim Photography paired with one of South Africa’s most celebrated planners, Oh Happy Day, to create this breathtaking bohemian shoot!

Natural Bohemian Wedding in the Red Desert

Graphic invitations and paper goods from Bash Paperie added a bold contrast to the organic floral arrangements from Oh Happy Day. Pampas grass, eucalyptus, and King Protea came together in the bride’s bouquet and an enormous, structural centerpiece to create soft, natural florals in the barren desert. A ceremony ring of greenery and wild pampas grass created a dramatic backdrop against the vivid dunes of the Red Desert. In addition to the gorgeous ceremony installation, Crystal and Vine styled a kneeling Sweetheart Table surrounded by organic cotton pillows. Matte black flatware and china echoed the modern aesthetic of the stationery suite, while raw linen napkins tied in to the organic floral arrangement. So Whipped created a cake that echoed the wind carved lines of the surrounding desert with a marbled design in pale gray, topped with delicate floral details.

The bridal gown from Chanelle Wright struck just the right note between timeless and perfectly on trend, with a romantic A-line skirt paired with a lace crop top. The chic bridal separates were paired with a delicate hair vine from Bejewelled SA for a minimalist bohemian look. Juliet Downes Make Up styled the bride with loose, voluminous waves to echo the natural aesthetic of the day, with a smokey eye to add a hint of drama.
